its still likely more actively developed than any other 68k os, save perhaps some atari options i dont know much about. |
Exactly, while there may not be a lot of development going on with AROS, the fact remains that it IS being developed and the door remains open for further development. Nightly builds for the 68K branch were updated on the 19th so the term "lot of development" is relative and open to interpretation. EXTERNAL LINK When was the last time that there was any OS3.x development? There hasn't been any development in years and most programmers steer clear of it because of its legal status. That won't change anytime soon either with cease & desist letters and take-down notices being sent out recently by a certain attorney representing a company that begins with the letter "H".

| Ummm, did we ever determine if there was a repository we can point AppolloOS to for Updates?

Expensive compared to what? A free stack? $30 is a reasonable amount.

RoadShow is worth every penny. Best TCP/IP stack for Amiga even without UI.

I needed about five beers a few months ago trying to get Easynet to work with my 1200. Could have been me, not blaming but never did get that going. If there was a decent ethernet or wireless solution for my Vampired 500 I would go with it. Plipbox doesn't seem enough.

| Hello people. I installed ApolloOS on a SD - also on a microSD in a SD adapter in a IDE2SD adapter. Since I'm totally NEWBIE, I'd like to ask you some questions: 01. Can I prepare my SD card with WinUAE? I mean...I don't use ALL the WHDLoad games, can I erase some via WinUAE? 02. Can ApolloOS read microSD cards in Vampire's SD slot? 03. ClassicWB used to work 1920x1080 on my Toshiba TV. Why doesn't ApolloOS? Max resolution is 1366x768 04. Where's the ASSIGN file? I can't find it on S:startup-assign. I would like to change games assign dir... 05. Do I have to download games file such as Wolf3D? Thanks for your replies.[P.s: I'm running a GOLD 2 Core. Can I update it via ApolloOS?]

Its two different things. You can writte image via number of Linux, WIndows tools as described in readme. If WinUAE envirovment you are using can access your card reader you could delete some data files to reduce its size, but as usual with AmigaOS, do it with great care and consideration. Its better to do it once in ApolloOS. 02. Can ApolloOS read microSD cards in Vampire's SD slot? | Yes, but it cannot boot from it at in present times (seems SD Slot boot is pushed to GOLD3 core release) Paolo fpm_paolo wrote:

v2 Vampire has some DIGITAL-VIDEO out video kinks that in high res can make FPGA unstable. You can create your own P96 modes and go higher if your TV support, but you really risk system stability for not much gain. Problem could be resolved via DIGITAL-VIDEO amplifier and is fully hardware resolved in v4 vampires. 04. Where's the ASSIGN file? I can't find it on S:startup-assign. I would like to change games assign dir... |
Usual manual edit of startup-sequence with great care and change in properties of apps that use them. [P.s: I'm running a GOLD 2 Core. Can I update it via ApolloOS?] |
AS much as an in the same way as with any AmigaOS. EXTERNAL LINK However, mind that few apps included (miniMON I believe) neeed GOLD 2.5 or better and might crash without it. Since its experimental core and having USB Blaster just in case nearby is advised, its best to not use those few until core 2.7 is public. Hope some of the answers help.
