| Im using one of the vampire cards made by kipper, it was very stable with 2.9 but when updated to 2.11, sometimes i need to restart my amiga few times to get into the os properlysometimes it crashes while loading the os after the startup music it also crashes when i scroll down or up on my mouse on folders that contain a lot of files surprisingly, it can run all the benchmarks with no crash at all and it never crash while gaming too I recapped my motherboard in 2017 any ideas? has anyone been experiencing instability with latest core compared to 2.9 or 2.10? I also vamparized my amiga 500+ with the latest vampire card (2.2 i think!) it seems to be more stable than the amiga 600 on 2.11

It could be several things. So the latest cores are a bit more power hungry, If you are still using the stock A600/A1200 PSU the 5V rail barely provides enough current for a stock setup, so add a bunch of add-ons like the Vampire and such and almost 30 years of age on the PSU it may not provide consistent power. An Industrial power supply like the RT-65B or RT-50B may be a good alternative upgrade. In my case, I had some contact issues I also have a Kipper made Vampire. on the 68k socket on the vampire there should be a small cut out in the plastic so it clears a surface mount component. On my vampire I not only had to make this hole a tiny bit bigger, but I had to take a sander and shave down the PLCC socket down a little bit more so it would bite more.

| I previously had similar issues when moving from one core to another and found it went from being stable to random crashing. Mine is also an kipper2k card from his second batch. I fixed mine through a combination of doing the power mod (replacing the caps to 2x 22uf ones) and replacing the socket to a much better one that clamps the CPU better. Although know of someone who also had similar issues and just ran the socket over sandpaper until the edge was flush with the metal pins. This allowed it to sit on the CPU with a much better connection (the FAQ on the wiki even references sanding down the socket). I still found my machine froze when running certain software, a good example of this was ADoom, but found that if I removed the top of my case it worked fine. I think it was Gunnar who mentioned having a small fan fitted so I added one to my case to draw the hot air out the top of the case. Previously ADoom would crash after 10-20mins of running in demo mode, with the fan I had it running without issue for 8 hours. You can find more on my issues and how i fixed them in the thread below: CLICK HERE

| That was very helpful, thanks I switched to my old amiga 4000 and i found more issues compared to what i could find with a600 vampire! I'm using a copper heat-sink with a small fan blowing on it, could this be why my amiga 500 is a bit more stable than A600?, I run a lot of demos/doom/hexen and i like stress them a lot!

| From what I see posted the reason an A500 vampire is more stable is usually simply due to the way in which it fits. The A600 was never designed to have accelerators fitted and the method used is not ideal. Most issues with stability are resolved by just cleaning the pins and CPU, and sanding the edge of the socket down so that it is flush with the pins inside. This makes a much better connection (these sockets were not intended to be used in this method which is why they need sanding down). My original socket was sanded down by kipper2k but not by much
