| Hi, the current MorphOS version of RDesktop is being ported to 68k, graciously, by the developer. I am currently testing a beta version which is working fine on my Amiga 4000 system. Unfortunately it does not work on Amithlon or on my Vampire system. We even tried a no-fpu version but it still doesn't start. I am wondering if one of the Vampire team would be willing to test it to see if they can figure out why. Thanks please let me know. Darren

Just an update on this: It is working now on the Vampire and on Amithlon. The issue is starting from the icon, perhaps not recognizing/reading Tooltypes properly, so it was likely working all along. When started from shell with arguments it works. Just from an icon isn't working (yet). Darren

| Cool! Is there a download for it? Just checked Aminet and only saw one for OS4 dated 2006. :)

Can't figure out how to send message to you, can you DM me on Twitter (@smartroad78) and can swap emails there? I'm running an A1200 with Vampire on 2.12

There is an OS 3.9 compatible MUI version of Remote Desktop that works well from Icon, you can find it here: EXTERNAL LINK In this link instead there also is the RDesktop AROS Full Version: EXTERNAL LINK

Yup that second link is to my webpage. This version will be updated from the older versions (including AROS), to the same level as the current MorphOS version.

| Hey Darren, Thanks very much for keeping us up to date on this. I used RDesktop sometime ago and was impressed with what it could do and looking forward to seeing this get the update treatment.

| Hi there, probably doing something silly here, or missing something running Coffin r58 on a V1200 updated roadshow IP stack to the latest with my purchased version. getting about 10megabits down and 18 megabits up via a netgear FA411 pcmcia card according to AmiSpeedTest the version of Remote desktop (1.5.0) in coffin r58, connects fine to a windows server2008r2 host - just an invisible mouse pointer is slightly irritating. the new beta version i have runs, but doesn't display anything? i'm typing:- rdesktop server=<IP address of server2008r2 host> user=<username> password=<password> pubscreen=workbench width=800 height=600 or fullscreen instead of the pubscreen, width and height arguements - full screen asks me for a screen mode to display with - so that sounds positive.... it goes away like it's thinking about it, then after a few seconds drops me back to the command prompt. i don't see anything on the native RBG ouput either... i'm clearly doing something wrong, just not sure what... many thanks for your time :)

| aha! i have now downloaded the AmiSSL 4.9 package from aminet, and installed that. no difference... codeset? whats that? i notice the older version of RDesktop now gives me the correct username on logging in instead of "nobody" on the windows username list which was freaking me out a little :Dand the version of the new beta rdesktop i have is "1.8.3post"

| sorry same again. downloaded the codesets, installed. rebooted. same issues, where after the command, it looks like its gone off and doing something. if i do a "status" in another shell window. i can see rdestop is sitting there as another process, till it looks like it bombs out and drops back to the command line. however. i know rdp timeout, if a keystroke is not registered within an amount of time, the server will drop the connection, so it could be that... but just can't see anything displayed. have tried all kinds of known good screen modes in the fullscreen screen-mode selector, no change... i know my IP stack is good as the 1.5 version of RDP client works, and i'm typing this reply in netsurf on my workbench on the machine i'm trying this from. is there a verbose mode i can enable to tell me why the process was closed? login time out, or unable to contact host or something? thanks again for your efforts with this, i hope i'm being helpfull in some way [edit] i've just had some success with my A4k running the new version! so far the normal and 060 version connect to my winserver2008r8 host as per previous. when i try to connect to a winserver2019 host, i get "ERROR: failed to connect, CredSSP required by server (check if server has disabled old TSL versions, if yes use -V option)." however, i can connect to windows10 hosts! woohooo! and it's really quick in comparison to the old RDP too. i'd even go so far as to say, usable for things like web browsing etc. Just make sure you're running a fast screen mode on the amiga side of things, not something like a 32bit depth 1600x1200. fullscreen works great, tho windows10 RDP seems to want a 15bit screen mode at minimum, so 800x600 on a CV64-3D is perfectly workable. full screen re-draws are where it suffers - i'm not going to be remote playing any games right now :) need to see if i can get some more performance out of the Xsurf100, as amispeedtest tells me thats running at 5megabits, as opposed to the vampire backed netgear card on my 1200 gets 10-18megabits. IP stack is genesis straight of the OS3.9CD, as i can't for the life of me get roadshow or AmiTCP off the coffin r58 to play ball on this machine anyway. still fails when I try to connect to work though - so i think something else is at play here :) but the windows 10 connection gives me the option to "double hop" into work at least.[edit2] i figured out my problems with roadshow, i'd got a rogue space char in my netinterface config file. cooking on gas now with roadshow, getting almost 2x the speed of genesis, 7.5megbits down and 11.5 megabits up. this has lead to a noticeable improvement with amiga RDP. seeing if i can do some gentle steam games over RDP like.... worms? hah. the irony...

| ok, so i think my V1200 is having problems opening the display. with the fullscreen option, it gives me the screen mode requester. everything looks fine, but it seems to get locked up requesting a new screen. same for opening a window on workbench without the fullscreen option.i've removed and reinstalled roadshow with my full version. then i've bought the new version of Picasso96, and installed that. i then deleted all vampire P96 settings and screen modes, and re-created all the screen modes from scratch. i still get the same result for all variants of the new beta version i have, where it doesn't seem to want to open a new window/screen? could there be something silly i've missed like a tick box or something? was able to RDP with my A4k to a windows10 host just fine, so i can't figure out the difference with my Vamp A1200 software wise... will try with my V500 later for a giggle.
