I can recommend to use Coffin CF images.
This gives you an excellent configured Amiga system.

The coffinOS discarded it because it comes in a microsd and the vampire does not let run OS from there as I understand it.
exactly what product should I get to use coffin os for an a500 vampire 2+??

Coffin OS is a free download.
Just download it, and write it to your CF drive.

Do not buy it online!

AMIGA support IDE.
IDE is compatible to CF.
So with a very simply IDE2CF adapter you can uses CF in Amiga.

Another option is to use a IDE2SD adapter - they are less then $10.
