Beta testing latests improvements in core and RTG driver with a SDL game made years ago by Gunnar himself.

Demo :

Playing :

EXTERNAL LINK

Actually it runs very smooth on a core clocked at 15x.

It works well on my Amiga 600 but can play it only on keyboard.
Playing over Joystick doen`t work well. Fire works but moving the plane to right/left up/down doesn`t work

I would really like to play that game! More importantly where can I get a core clocked at 15x???

68k versions should work on Vampire, but there is no SAGA specific port (yet). Its proof as tested - Vampire is fast
and fully fledged 68k+RTG.

x15 core ... well, I believe he is proud owner of limited edition Black Vampire or similar card, that is "overclocked".

Its not explain is it a bit more expensive FPGA with higher clocked Apollo, Apollo with overclock and heatsinkig cooling :-)))) or some special software core mutiplier feature (that would mean all could overclock).

However, it shows Vampires above 100Mhz are possible (we see great MIPS per Mhz).

I think they bought regular FPGA x11 cores, that is, the FPGA was capable of 11 times whatever their MHz crystal pumps out. I'll pretend here that the FPGA operates at ~230 MHz. So, the crystal is changing input of 20.9 MHz to 230. Some of the FPGAs can handle 12*20.9=250 MHz without burning out. Of course, the FPGA then only creates the equivalent of ~140 MHz 68060 performance (every faster FPGA made a slightly faster 68060 performance CPU), and SOME (very few) were capable of being overclocked more than that. Some got to 12, 13, 14 and the highest I've heard of was 15.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works. If it's wrong, erase this rubbish.

I recommended you to learn Asembler and C and write more code than more posts...

True! More work less speculation...that's why I have been so quiet lately...lots of coding work for new Amiga programs!

Nice batman slap :-)But since overall category is "Running Games and Apps" its slightly off topic :-)

Gladly, not everyone is a coder, but in coders hands
Vampire is a weapon :-)

Anyway, since we have seen there are "Black editions" can
we expect some slightly expensive slightly faster editions in the future?

sorry, vox, but accoring to your nick from then and your background, you have not spared us with, your desire to be some sort of "vox populi".

i remember well the wall of text kinda rants you have not spared us with, in order to convince us to support os4. really, i expected you to learn a bit in the meantime, how to help, instead to demand. im still almost as dumb as ever, but with some assistance even me, im (sometimes) able to deliver basic fixes for 68k code, even with aros sources.. are you getting it?

    Kudos Wawa,

No need for revival of past fears but nor unrealistic expectations of everyone being a coder / gfx artist etc. I do understand our small remains need coders blood, but users too. Its just not ment for everyone :-)

AmigaOS4 was a straightforward port of OS3, and if, khm, handled differently, could be the OS of our dreams. But that is past the point as it wont be soon what I desire, expect or wish it to be for many reasons. And I left hope it will ever be. Sorry if I caused much nuisance to your personally, or community as all.

I we seen a lot from you and I am grateful. I have reserved an Mac laptop with MOS unregistered, so I might enjoy it with proper LinuxPPC this year. Also, as soon as Vampire standalone is out, I will get it for sure. Already have my OS 3.5 boxed and OS 3.9 CDs waiting for something more then emulation and AmigaKit. I hope SAGAoverDIGITAL-VIDEO CORE, FPU and fixed AROS are good enough expectations for Vampirized 2017, 2018 if it drags on.

Yes, I do understand Apollo team is just few people, like Majsta and Gunnar, now occupied with FPGA design, where most of coding is left to community. Once more I am sad I am not a coders mind.

I am a simple Amiga user, all life educated in social sciences and doing social work with people for bread and butter, as English speakers say.I ve tried Hoolywood and was a dudo even in it. Last time I did wrote something was retyping BASIC listings back in C64 and Spectrum times. Maybe Ser Clives SuperBASIC is for me, but I just never get hands on cursed QL.

To be honest I ve spend Amiga 90s in local and regional BBBs scene and gaming, even "Workbench apps" were limited by 020/28/FPU/4MB fast/HDD and CD an "mid end" A1200 I had in East Europe (even sold a Pentium to get a accel card). So seeing a single render in Lightwave or Imagine was a WOW factor. And as many of us with just expanded basic Amigas, I dreamed of high end.

So after few decades more of economic and social destruction, I was back to supporting Amiga (OS4) since 2004 in software purchases, donations and forum interest. Was able to be only Serb to pull a leg for x1000 in 2012. And as you correctly remember, was aggressively against CUSA and later and current Hyperion-AEON-AmiKit drag-on-milk-users policy. Probably because corporate bullshit and certain people have an ability to piss me off for avoiding responsibility or bluntly skipping over more difficult issues (e.g. Warp3D on Norhern Islands, ethernet.device on x1000, doable and needed things).

My Hoolywood license I have transfered to a nice Aussie guy that has brought Stargus and CIAagent to OS4, in hope he will do some good.Cant code yet,and not expected to.

Hope rants will be replaced with nice Vampire and MOS show off videos and software purchases in time. I am very well aware Vampire is just "double 060" and it wont do a HD video like Emotion in x1000 or have HTML5 browser. But I like how, by whom and in which causes it progresses.

Surely all of us would like AmigaOS to be back to our main OS. You will understand that for my work these are essential:

    a) A bit of fun. AmigaAmp and Emotion like modern video player do the job. So AmigaAmp and Riva would do it on Vampire. I just lack Odyssey style browser, a very good one with whom I am far more satisfied then ... Ibrowse, Aweb, cursed Timberwolf or OWB.

    b) A bit of work. I do need PDF, Postscript printing, WiFi and some productivity matching Libre Office 3.5 - just for reports, documents etc. and very basic image and font editing. And not being pro, but advanced daily users that deals with ppoints, spreadsheet and mostly Word styled documents. Vampire mostly can do most, x1000 should but Libre port is in development hell and Linux support became more difficult with SI card since no 3D in MESA.

    c) A bit of gaming old school. Old Amiga games and maybe some modern strategy, adventure or a platformer or shoot em up. I dislike there is no way to run my Payback CD (on x1000) and few more old stuff I never got to play good on an 020 (later titles like Genetic Species, OnEscapee, Quake ...). This is a big YES to Vampire. Gaming as it should be. Sadly I have just Kempston USB will have to get some more 9 pin ones, unless standalone supports USB :-)

One in all, it seems Vampire does it for me more, even its middle bussiness use would take a lot of effort and is even less likely currently then with OS4/MOS.

On my future MorphOS/Vampire side - It seems Amiga Writter is my destiny and proper edit of Word 6.0/2003 docs would be good enough. Papyrous Office - is it in existence and usable? And Turbo Print could do printing side. PDF viewers exist, Wi-Fi and some presentation software is missing, I do have Scala MM 68k, that would be an interesting retro adventure to use it for students presentations instead of TV Production. Since I havent unterly tested it, do you think it can do the magic? (dislike running UAE Boxes, x1000 couldnt do it, didnt have CD back in 90s as we had no legal Amiga market and were Cuban style embargo isolated from the world).

So, no sir, not a real lunnie, but one that hates lies or people that dont know simply how to say I am sorry we cant do that :-)

I am not classic capitalist pig about little money we East Europeans get. Even  I got a "ranter" label, I do consider I am quite patient and that I would pay for forgotten things like "fair labour" "made in some non Chinese county" etc.

And there is a bit of Serbian proud, Majsta has done the hardware side of Vampire revival, as well as Vampire is part of Slavic horror folklore and via it it came to Hoolywood, English literature and even language. VAMPIR is a Serbian (Slavic) word introduced to foreign languages, one of very few, like RAKIA :-)

Surely, not just national one, but also a demo scene one. I completely agree with Majstas motives (as explained on A500 world premiere https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNjuulAWntc)
and I like most of Vampire presentation and discussion was done by ex-Yugoslav demo and IT scene (whose observer and supported I was back in 90s).

Finally, there is also a local touch. Best translated OS and apps (localized) for my humble small language is, beside Linux, including quality of translations - AmigaOS. Serbian ATO was active back in 90s and both Workbench and many apps were localized. There are 22 localized packages on Aminet EXTERNAL LINK At same time, Hype team has, for laiziness or likeness of one of very few Serbian OS4 users, destroyed the OS locales.
    EXTERNAL LINK
Its not most important thing, I am fluent English speaker, but I like it as it helps giving one more WOW factor AmigaOS.

If you could give me some introduction for dummies how to translate catalogue files, I could do some Aminet good there. Neither a graphic artist, nor musician sir :-)

    P.S.
I will try to be more realistic. My current ONLY criticism was a bit of Hype factor of posting videos of cores, features of software unavail to public. Please dont do that until done. I like Gunnars approach "we do our best, take it as we make it".
Its not done by Apollo team but by beta users, for Vampire promo. Its not like Hyperions Hype factor, but there was a bit resemblance. Warning out fear for my and other peoples nerves :-)

Frankly, I think its very good that we try to show people "whats going on / and give people a preview of what will come out".

This is called "information or news".
If I turn on my TV (which I rarely do) then I might also see a Trailer for the next Star Wars movie - even if its not showing in my cinema today.

It all depends what you announce.
If you announce development of some game is one thing if it wont be finished. It has totaly different consequences as if you announce an FPU before it is included into the core. You get totaly different reaction of the people. I think you saw what causes at the people such announcement. Unrealistic expectations and demands, ...
How it would/will be if FPU even wont be included in the core at all in the future?!?
Not the same as unreleased game ... ;)

Uros,

just regard it as "Weather news".
If you do not like watching the weather man, then do not read announcements. Very simple.

who cant enjoy the way and the time it takes and simply wants a ready product probably shouldnt engage with apollo/vampire.
when there are no news some people tend to phantasize and/or demand regular updates, when there are news, the same people complain that instead only ready product should be released.

i for my part enjoy every part of info from the team. i dont need to watch every video, but its great to have that option. none is forced to anything here..
