| While waiting for my new Vampire 500 V2+ card to arrive I thought it might be nice to shine up my old Amiga 500 case so that my shiny new Vampire baby would have a nice home. My old Amiga was ugly yellowed and nasty looking! Why put a new accelerator card in that? While reading restoration blogs online I found that Krylon Fusion Light Almond spray paint would beautify the outside case but the key caps would need special care. I had thought about using the new key caps set that Phillip Lang is working on but I would have to wait a few more months and I wanted my Amiga to be beautiful now! Again while reading online I found a process that was first discovered by some folks in Germany a few years ago. Some chemists refined the process to clean yellowed UV plastic using sunlight or UV light and concentrated hydrogen peroxide gel. Where would I get this stuff? I found it at Sally's Beauty Supply and it's called Salon Care 40. I decided to clean the keys in small groups so I can remember where they go on the keyboard and it's more fun that way. Simply place an ample amount of cleaning gel in a ziplock plastic bag with your Amiga key caps, coating them well. Seal the bag and leave it outside in direct sunlight for 2 to 4 hours, more if you'd like. And soon your old yellowed keys will be young and pretty again! I was skeptical but I must say that the Amiga RetroBright process using hydrogen peroxide gel works! So with a little work and some beauty cream our Vampire cards will have nice homes. It really is beauty cream for our Amigas! Waiting impatiently for my Vampire card now...
