Dear V2 owners,

after long time of development and testing we are happy to announce that V2 update "GOLD 2.17 Bronto" is ready for usage.

New features included in the release:

* Card supports now to run in one of 4 different speed mode. This allows for run old games e.g. in speed of A500 or A1200, to improve running old games that have problems running on faster CPUs.

* Support for new instruction EXTUB.L
This instruction is very useful for type conversion.
It is used by some GCC versions.
Supporting it does improve code density and improves performance.

* Support for new instruction EXTUW.L
This instruction is very useful for type conversion.
It is used by some GCC versions.
Supporting it does improve code density and improves performance.

* Support for enhanced instructions
BRA.s+ BSR.s+ BCC.s+
This instruction is supported by some compilers and assemblers.
This instruction improves code density and improves performance.

* Hardware optimized version of FPU instruction FDBcc.w

* Hardware optimized version of FPU instruction FDBcc.l

* several FPU Performance optimizations ported from V4-FPU to V2

Here you can see the four difference speed grades the card can run in.

You can use this to optimally run old A500/A1200 games or use the full speed for modern games.

Thank you Apollo team for continuing to support the 'legacy' cards. :)

I assume that this is an update only for the V1200 card, as there are no available downloads for V500/600?

This update is for all three models V600/v500/v1200
We are building the releases one after the other, will be testing them and we will put them online as soon as they are ready.

So if you are V500 / V600 keep an eye at the Downloads section, your FPGA image will come soon.

Thank you VERY much!
This might be the definitive update for V1200.

Please tell me: How can I choose between the four speed modes.

  I guess VControl is outdated.
So I thought ApolloControl might help.
But I couldn´t find fitting options.

  Thanks for your help!

  EDIT: Found it! :)

  Is a GUI available?

EDIT2: That´s a brilliant update! Congrats. Just perfect!

Just one idea:

Is it possible to include a 030/50mhz mode?

Games like Jurassic Park would benefit a lot.

Not too fast vs. not working/too slow

Installed and all old games turned to RED (Deluxe Galaga, Jurassik Park AGA, UFO, LupoAlberto).
What I did wrong ?

In order to run them I had of course to run
cpu nocache

I run coffin r58

thanks you in advance for any info and your support in this

We are field testing the V600 and V500 release in our discord since some time.

Hello,

I am still on 2.12 on my 1200.  I want to update to Bronto.  Tried to flash and it says not supported.  Which flash tool do I use?  Vampireflash or apolloflash?  Both give errors, saying only support up to 2.16.

EDIT.  Nevermind, was able to use Vampireflash v1.9 and it worked.

The little chime is now gone! I liked it.
