| On our todo list for the next Release6 for V4 are currently the following items:- cleanwrite of OS ATA driver to have much better IDE code - OS diskcache ~ 20 times potential speedup - Booting from u-SDcard (thanks to Alynna) - Auto network start when launching AWEB - Auto mount from SDcard - SDcard-Fat with Write support - several game improvements - a number kick fixes which enable a number demos/games (already done) - NEOGEO speed up for smooth play - 3D core included and enabled - some 3D demos using the 3D unit The release is planned for March. Depending on progress we will have to see if all todos will be included in R6. Your Apollo-Team

| Awesome! Regarding the NEO GEO speedup - Pardon the beginner question, but is there an advantage to emulating NEO GEO on Vampire as opposed to PC? (Beyond the obvious joy of using an Amiga and not a PC of course!)

The Neo Geo is originally built on a 68k architecture, so emulating the CPU only involves translating the function calls and not fully remaking the CPU from scratch via emulation. As such, running Neo Geo games on an Amiga-based system is theoretically closer to real hardware.

| Unlike the classic Apple Macs where the ROM can be patched to use the Amiga hardware, I believe the Neo Geo games use the hardware directly like Amiga games do. So the Neo Geo 68K is emulated to manage the hardware interactions as far as I know. This may be easier to do on the 68080 than other 68K CPUs thanks to it's speed and additional features.

Does this mean AmiKit XE as standalone (not V4BL-backed) could be loaded, with the use of such new features? Obviously this would have to include loading AOS kick at boot, so this feature is a prerequisite for V4 to be capable of loading AmiKit XE. I am happy that all V4BL owners can use also AmiKit XE all the time alas I wish that anyone would be, again, capable of booting AmiKit XE CF right away. Great work, again, I am astonished by the pace the new cores are released. Adding the fact that V4BL list is cleared, this is nowadays, practically the ONLY affordable, Next-Gen, Amiga solution on the market. I liked the ad in Amiga Future too!

It is purely a question of the partitions. With an updated partitioning layout Amikit always worked. With the current non working partitioning AmiKit will not work.

| It’ seems like Vampire V4 development continues at a very faaaaast pace. Thank you so much Apollo Team. This is a breath of fresh air after the very slow development of OS 4.1 over the years.

Cool progress! Sorry if it has been asked before, but is this a Warp3D compatible 3D core, or will only newly written software benefit from it?
