Are there any tentative plans to include audio over DIGITAL-VIDEO ? Not meaning to route Paula output through it, but something that can be hooked into with an AHI driver.

There are plans for it, yes.

It's been 4 months since Gold 1 so I assume Gold 2 testing phase is coming to an end. It is obvious that several team members and testers have been running a beta of Gold 2 for quite a while. (Testing Turtle mode with WHDL, Riva with latest AMMX and such)
I'm sure any delay is for our benefit. ;-)

On IRC Gunnar mentioned a faster memory controller was currently being implemented as part of Gold 2. Based on that I wouldn't expect a Gold 2 release in the very near future (less than a couple of weeks).

Yes the memory controller sure is getting a lot of TLC. :-) In any case, Im sure its worth the wait. Lots of the new features of the V500 V2+ depend on some new drivers so maybe it makes sense to wait for the unfinished stuff and release everything at once.

The next Apollo-CORE Release GOLD2 is planned for November.
Has the scope of what will be included in Gold 2 changed since this announcement?

Hmmm, I have tried the NOCACHE tooltype in WHDLoad and it doesn't seem to slow down the games that run too fast. But the good news is compatibility is much better in this release.
EDIT: Well it seems having a WHDLoad.prefs file in S: makes it so using tool types to have no effect. Renaming it allowed the NOCACHE to work.

Yes, NoCache is "Local" setting which means that it can be used only on the command line or as tooltype in the icon:
