point of that reply?

  Hi John,

Well, what Michael R said after your post.

  In addition to that, some question;
"Why buy a 'retro computer' for ~$400 to $700(US)?"
  "x86 at 2.x GHz for ~$300 is 100 times more powerful, Vampire's a dud!?!"
"No current day buyer wants an 'ancient' user interface, what chance you got?"
  etc.

But as far as I believe, our "killer app(sick)" is "near instant on".

No one yet knows how quickly the standalone will boot up in, but it should be under 10 and maybe as little as 4 seconds.

I think that THAT is a "HOLY GRAIL".

Sorry about the empty quote previously. I can't seem to delete it.

Yes. The Vampire accelerator card IS the killer app! It will attract a lot of positive attention. I think a few well placed "gifts" of Vampire cards will generate some positive publicity as well.

I love it when I switch on my Amiga and it takes maybe ten seconds to start up, completely silent with an sd card! Happy computing!

I'd like to play some more demanding games on the Vampire card, such as "Conquests of the Longbow" (Sierra Games?), and others!

What we need are native & unique games and apps and not ports from some other/open source platform that you can find on any other modern day machine, I know software is scarce right now and anything that runs native for the vampire is a plus (more is good right) but IMHO if I can play a game on another platform there isn't much draw other than the 'oh look what it can do" factor.. We need something (and I think Gunnar? showed some sneak peak of an amiga only game) that is only playable on a Vampire based system. aka "killer apps".

That's true. Native games designed specifically to take advantage of what the Vampire card graphics system can do are preferable to games from other platforms, although many Sierra games worked well on Amigas. One of my favorite games for the Amiga was Sid Meier's Pirates! As far as what is possible with Amiga graphics using SAGA would a game like this be playable on the Amiga? Perhaps native games similar in quality to this or like the Natami game 194x presented by Gunnar would showcase the new graphics abilities of the Amiga?

These games are 24bit/32bit with fast action animation and sound. The Natami game had a scrolling background and hundreds of sprites. Once enough Vampire accelerator cards and some standalone boards are out in the hands of end users we will see native high graphics games for our Amigas. Game developers need the hardware to make new games. I think we are seeing the beginning of something huge! The re-invention of Amiga gaming that will bring our beloved Amigas into the modern age.

I agree... but once I ever manage to put my hands on a standalone board, if ever such games as "Shovel Knight" or "Super Meat Boy" would be ported to it, I'd surely play them on Vampire rather on PC.

That to say: yes, we DO need new and exclusive games, but also good games from any other platform and gaming era.

Another thing could be to develop games that were announced but never sow the light, like Dragon Slayer.
Dragon Slayer was announced by Linel at the end of the '80s with jawdropping screenshots but sadly never got released.
Now imagine if somebody with great artistic and programming skills would ever release it's equivalent for Vampire, maybe naming it "Erik, the Dragon Slayer". I know some people from "Amiga Games that Never Were" (including myself) willing to purchase both the board and the game.

I'll tell you (one of) my secret(s) of why I'm an Amiga FANATIC.

So, on September 24th, 1993 this game was released....
EXTERNAL LINK
6 MILLION copies (later) sold, and WHAT PRECISELY in that game COULDN'T the AMIGA 1200 do, and it came out on October 24th, 1992???? Well, let's see, Amiga 1200 should have ALSO had 2 Megs of FAST RAM AND a FULL 68020 CPU, not the CRIPPLED one they used that could only address 16 MB of RAM. (Also, should have had empty SIMM sockets on the motherboard for extra RAM, instead of selling 2 megabyte trapdoor RAM expansions for $500 Canadian (or something along those lines).) However, if ONLY it had 2 Megs of FAST RAM as well, and a CD-ROM drive, it was "good to go"!!!!! (Remember, AMIGAs were capable of 100% SPEECH playback as well!!!! I don't think there's talking in this game.)

Now, they don't really know how many AMIGAs were sold of all models combined (Commodore produced, only), but there's a guesstimate that is widely accepted of 7,000,000.

So, 6 of EVERY 7 AMIGA OWNERS would have had this game!!!!!!

It's all about "who's there FIRST" and AMIGA WAS "THERE" FIRST, and proceeded to FAIL MISERABLY!!!!

And I CAN NOT let go of that......

Additionally (a second secret, tee hee hee (as Al Bundy would say)), AMIGA, until THIS VERY DAY (Monday April 10, 2017) has things that I CANNOT DO on windoze.... So, I will NEVER EVER leave here!

(P.S. TOTALLY seriously, except for colour depth (and EVEN THEN if one used HAM), AMIGAS released from July 23rd, 1985 (Amiga 1000) COULD play this game, using a 68000 at 7 MHz, but using 2 Megs of Chip RAM and 2 Megs of FAST RAM and a CD-ROM drive!!!!! Am I right? That's a FULL 8 years and ~2 months before the game came out! :-o)

P.P.S. 6,000,000 copies SOLD, but how many ACTUALLY played it? Probably OVER 30,000,000!!!!!!

Big fan of Rick since I was a Speccy owner (yes, there was a communist protectionist policy "under 64k" ...)

Man deserves a picture "running away from a Vampire" in some next core release :-)

Any expected date, commercial title?

Myst was ported to AGA CD ROM in 1997  with heavy downgrades in quality, to be playable on A1200 with fast RAM, using Serbian "half slave labor" by Canadian ClickBoom

Watch till the end, very nice game improvement ideas, including 8-bit disco :-)

The MT-41 riddim, was made entirely from sounds of the famous Casio Casiotone MT-41 keyboard (whose brother, the MT-40, provided the sounds for the legendary “Sleng Teng” riddim in 1985). This way, it revives the spirit of the origins of computerized Dancehall.

Resembles of 8-bit sound since its 1985 piece of musical equipement.
