CF Card With Coffin R54 No Boot On Vampired A500

Hi,
I've recently got my Vampire 500 VII+ and installed it into my A500 Rev 6A. In general it works as long I boot from floppy or an 4GB CF with an classic WB installed (usally used with my A1200).

I downloaded the coffin_r54 img and wrote it on SD with 32GB.
This SD I put in a SD > CF adapter and try to boot it on the Vampire with no success. If I use it on my PC with WinUAE it boots into coffin (very slow) and shows the coffin WB with very low class
graphics. But in general it works.

What could be the reason why it does not work on the Vampire A500?

Do I understand you correct, you use an IDE2CF adaptor, and attached to this a CF2SD adaptor and inside this a SDCard?

Generally I can recommend to use SANDISK 32 GB CF drives.
I use them in several Vampires, they always work good.

I've bought one random IDE to CF adapter that just didn't work for me on any system. This may have been slightly because I needed a 44 pin to 40pin adapter. I didn't really spend much time debugging if it was the cable or the CF adapter.

But the one I got from amigakit long ago seems to work fine.

Hmm yeah I would think it has to be the SD->CF adaptor.  I’d suggest picking up an IDE->SD module (amazon has them for <$10 USD). That’s what I use and it works great. I *hate* CF with a passion (those tiny little pins are WAY too easy to bend without realizing you are doing it if things aren’t perfectly lined up. I’ve ruined 2 CF adaptors due to that...)

The one I use is on Amazon. Search for “Optimal Shop Secure Digital SD SDHC SDXC MMC Memory Card to IDE 2.5" 2.5 Inch 44P 44 Pin Male Adapter Converter, SD 3.0” and it’s an Amazon Choice item. Was $12.

Hope this helps.

Hi, ok I will go for such an IDE2SD adapter. The SD2cf worked well in my A1200. So I thought it works in the Vampire too. I think maybe to slow.

Thx@all

I got my 32GB CF card from SanDisk today. Copy the coffin r54 image on it and it runs perfecly. So the problem was definitly this SD2CF adapter.  Now Iam happy it runs great. :)

Yes, thank You for the support and help. And at least thank You for the Vampire ...now I know the different between warp and transwarp.  :-)
