Coffin R53 and WinUAE

Hi guys

  I add files to my new Coffin installations, including full Roadshow and Plipbox.  I'd like to add files via the SD drive, but it's apparently never activated on a new Coffin install.  So I usually do this via WinUAE on my PC.

  My last Coffin version was R51, and I'm finding that R53 doesn't boot with WinUAE.  I've read it's not compatible.

  If WinUAE isn't possible is there a quick and easy way to activate the SD drive that I'm not aware of?

  Thanks

Format your SD card on PC to FAT32 fileformat in normal way. Do not use any Amiga tools like HDToolBox, SDMount or Giggledisk.

Make sure you have:

DEVS:sagasd.device
L:fat95
DEVS:DOSDrivers/SD0
DEVS:DOSDrivers/SD0.info

And on Startup-Sequence:

VControl SD=3

Make sure that your DEVS:DOSDrivers/SD0 mountlist uses partition geometry autosense, its contents must be like this:

            FileSystem     = l:fat95
            Unit          = 0
            Flags          = 0
            LowCyl        = 0
            HighCyl        = 0
            Surfaces      = 1
            BlocksPerTrack = 1
            BlockSize      = 512
            Buffers        = 300
            BufMemType    = 1
            BootPri        = 0
            Stacksize      = 4096
            Priority      = 5
            GlobVec        = -1
            DosType        = 0x46415401
            Device        = sagasd.device

Thanks Simo, but how do I add those files to DEVS if I can't add them via the SD card or via WINUAE?

It'd be fantastic if Coffin recognised the SD drive by default.  I really appreciate all your efforts releasing Coffin OS for free, but I've always wondered why the SD drive isn't configured as standard.

I am not familiar with the CoffinOS. But I think it should already have those files. Check from the SYS:Storage/DosDrivers/ -folder if there is a SD0 -icon (or similar).

Or was there MountSDOnOff tool in SYS:System/ -folder?

Or if you mount your CF-card (CoffinOS) to the WinUAE and boot from WB floppy, can you see HDD partitions? If you use A600/1200 IDE remember to use kickrom which have an updated scsi.device with large HDD support.

That's OK - thanks anyway Simo.

Coffin doesn't have those files, and WinUAE doesn't work with Coffin past R51.  They've moved to a virtualized kickstart from what I understand.

Pure curiosity, could you please post a JPG of WinUAE (started with the administrator rights) when you have mounted your CF-card with the uaehf.device?

  There are just couple Vamp (080 MMX) added tools that A4000 AGA cant do (what you emulate in WinUAE). Careful semi column edit out of startup-sequence could do the magic, tools like SAGA drivers should be disabled for UAE, as well as Riva MMX etc. wont work.

  Coffin is NOT UAE distro at all. Its Vamp centric AmigaOS compilation, an image of Vamp users SD Card.

I am now far from my Amiga to check, but as I know sd works on Coffin out of box, you just need to mount it.
  Easiest way is to open opus any you will see there sd0:, just click on it and will ask you if you like to mount it.
  I am now not sure if working with partitions bigger then 2 gb out of box, therefore if you still can't see your sd card after you mount it, make sure that one partition, a first one is 2gb or less,fat format.
  On this forum you can find then how to install drivers and read bigger partitions,as I remember Vojin posted that while ago.
  But for sure R53 works out of box at least up to 2gb SD.

Sorry guys - it was a faulty CF reader I had.  The Coffin images were corrupted. Coffin R53 works beautifully with WINUAE, and I can add my files.

Thanks for your help.
