Cannot Get Video Out Through HDMI

Hey there! I would like to request a bit of support for my Vampire 600 V2.

I was able to flash Gold 2.10 with a USB Blaster, and install Coffin R53 on a CF card. Booting from a workbench floppy, I can see the partitions on the CF card and run SYSINFO to confirm that the Vampire is running fine.

But trying to boot from the CF card with DIGITAL-VIDEO output, I see the Gold 2.10 splash screen on the DIGITAL-VIDEO output (vamp girl), then hear some kind of boot music and the video signal cuts out. My monitor says: "No input" for all signals: RGB, composite, and DIGITAL-VIDEO.

Next, I renamed the file screenmode.prefs in System:Prefs/ENV-Archive/Sys/, and was able to finally boot coffin in PAL Mode. Then I tried to set the screenmode to 4:3, 640x480 24 bit (same as vampire splashscreen), but nothing comes out the DIGITAL-VIDEO.

Would anyone have a suggestion on what I can try next?

Probably your monitor doesn't support the Frequency of the sceenmode(s).

Boot in ECS mode go to the p96 settings in prefs and raise the clock frequency to about 60hz for a choosen screenmode and click test until you get a picture from RTG on your screen.
It could be that you'll have to set a tooltype in the vampiregfx monitor file in devs:monitors to overclock=yes to able to raise the clock frequency above 50hz.

My 42" sony TV also doesn't like anything lower then 60hz.

Adding to what is above, I had to go into every screenmode in P96 prefs and hand adjust the dotclock frequency till I found the lowest setting that would produce a stable picture for my monitor make/model .. I also ended up using an DIGITAL-VIDEO 2.0 repeater to boost the hdmi signal to clear up the occasional drop out and random static. (the vampire hdmi is bit-banged by the fpga and isnt always as clean as a lot of monitors want)

Good, this means your video-out technically works.
What Screen/TV do you use to view it?

Hey, how do I boot COFFIN in ECS mode?  I tried to install the new SAGA driver on R52 and now I just get a black screen.  Thanks in advance!

You can do this just same way as always on AMIGA.

a) hold SHIFT pressed during boot, then P96 RTG system will be skipped and the screenmode will fall back to PAL/NTSC

b) if you press both mouse button during reset then you will come to the Amiga Early-Boot-menu, there select Boot without Startup-Sequence.

Thanks!  This really saved my bacon.  I was never able to afford a Picasso or similar graphics card back in the day, so all I ever knew was OCS/ECS.  I was able to repair my R52 install and back up what I needed to move over to my new R53 install.

Sorry for a long delay since my first post.

I could not get the DIGITAL-VIDEO displaying on my TV, so instead I have tried passing the DIGITAL-VIDEO signal through my PAL/DIGITAL-VIDEO convertor (it has an DIGITAL-VIDEO input, see: https://www.amazon.com/VCANDO-Converter-Adapter-Switch-Scaler/dp/B01N06Q9WH/).

I can display any DIGITAL-VIDEO resolution out of the vampire this way, but there are a couple of issues:
  (1) The mouse shows in RED, but everything else is in B/W (even when launching games such as Quake).
  (2) I get no sound through DIGITAL-VIDEO.

Have you got some ideas what these issue could be? (passing a DIGITAL-VIDEO signal from my switch through the convertor, I get color and sound)

Audio via the DIGITAL-VIDEO is not currently supported (but stay tuned as this is coming).  The black and white screen means that you never registered your Vampire card.  Contact TuKo or BigGun with the serial number of your card (best on IRC) so that your card can be white listed.

I booted with pressed shift button. this worked fine. However, now I am not able anymore to boot in the Picasso mode. After booting up, I can swich to DIGITAL-VIDEO by changing the resolution in the prefs / screen mode menu. But how can I go back to the original setting which booted directly in the DIGITAL-VIDEO mode?

EDIT: I have solved the problem.

Thanks for the advice. It is true that sometimes it is difficult for us to find the right mode of use.

We no longer live in 90s and if I remember correctly anything below 70hz is "killer to the eyes" (do NOT remind me of AGA interlaced hi res on TV!) so why would not Vamp edits have default modes at standard 72Hz of today? All monitors and TV support it, Vamp has a power to do it?
