There's an upgrade to the filesystem. You cannot update the system without rewriting the cf

I am fairly certain that he didn't expect the file system to be upgraded but rather the individual softwares to be updated.  It isn't an unreasonable question to ask since this is a very common and convenient means to update a system.  Widely used in the Linux world and avoids having to backup data, install the new image then replicate the previous configuration, data and software state.  This isn't trivial.

Coffin is very very nice, in that one can go from having no Amiga OS (apart from the one that came with the machine on floppies) to a very tidy and well functioning Vampire specific installation, more or less perfectly setup with lots of lovely software ready to go.
And all with very little effort on the user's behalf.  It is very nice indeed.  But once one has added their own software and personal touches, the upgrade path (wipe disk and start again) becomes something of a disincentive.  Much nicer would be the possibility to apply the 10-20 updates that come with each release.  That way most, if not all, of ones personal changes could be retained.

Perhaps this is something that could be considered for future editions of Coffin?

Agreed. Even without PFS3 updates (very nice no matter the effects!) no ability to update is a bit annoying versus frequent updated releases (which is again for itself great).

Since software included in updates is mostly freeware, could it be included as separate update archive from previous Coffin (e.g. would just overwritte this few components and reboot)? I see it as simple and efficent solution.

Great to see you added MiamiDX, the Roadshow popup messages were so annoying and it took me while to remove it from the startup.

I don't understand.
The features exist. IPM is installed but we have to configure a repository. Check the Menu distribution to verify.

so, I saw that in the R51 there was an update of the filesystem and so it was not possible to upgrade but I have not seen any changes to the filesystem in the R52 ?

Once Amiga OS 3.1.4 with it's support for >4GB drives Coffin could switch to it's file system, then we don't have to deal with this anymore.

Remove it from the startup sequence, run uninstall .. then go thru the whole Miami install process, then copy over my Miami config from my current coffin setup.. would be easier and make more sense if Roadshow was not installed by default and Miami was installed as default then let people who paid for Roadshow install it since its, you know, a paid product whereas Miami is free and if you don't buy the roadshow license it bombs out after a few minutes which is exceptionally annoying if you opt not to buy the roadshow license, .. and I know some people will be like "oh just buy the license" well unless I can see value in spending the money on it (which I currently don't for a few reasons aside being somewhat expensive for what it is, 1. I don't use networking on my amiga very much, 2. the performance I get from Miami works just fine for my needs) then I have no reason to buy it.  but I digress .

Hello guys and MONDO THANKS for your great work.
I installed Coffin R52 on an SD and tried to connect to Internet.
I have a licensed RoadShow I bought some years ago and I would like to use that with my LINKSYS WIFI CARD.
This is what I do, but it doesn't work properly.

I uninstalled RoadShow and installed the licensed one and rebooted.
I copied prism2 from Storage/Networks to Devs/NetInterfaces.
I clicked on the top bar and changed my Wireless Preferences inserting the SSID and pwd of my WiFi.
I clicked on Enable connection at boot.
I reboot my A600.

It gets stuck at boot.

The only way to connect is to remove my PCMCIA WiFi card, reboot, and then write on a shell
wirelessmanager prism2.device.

How can I solve that?

I also have a TPLink repeater in another room.
If I use A600 in that room, it keeps disconnecting.
