Why Vampire Has HDMI Instead DIVI Video Connector?

Hi
I have such question because back to Natami days I have read, that DIVI is simpler and better because it does not require DRM things (or certificate). So then you recommended to use adaptor from DIVI to DIGITAL-VIDEO if needed. So:
What was change in DIGITAL-VIDEO subject after Natami project? Now are DRM things not obligatory? Or maybe you take effort to implement them?

thanks

The Vampire actually outputs DVI signals. It just uses the DIGITAL-VIDEO connector, because it is smaller than a regular DVI.

If you'd like to connect a DVI monitor, all you need is a passive DIGITAL-VIDEO to DVI adapter cable.

It also supports audio signals, which is a must to avoid messing around with the audio connectors

  Igor discovered he could built in cheap but limited DIGITAL-VIDEO outpout,
  and team has worked hard to implement both RTG and soon OCS/ECS/AGA/SAGA/Audio outpout to it.

What is the limitation compared to standard DIGITAL-VIDEO?

  - Needs VDU that can do strange refresh rates
  - If one goes to strange resolution / refresh rates, Vampire is unstable until the resolution change
  - It has a lower max res than real one
  - It doesnt say DIGITAL-VIDEO (no corporate logo in place)

  But can stream audio since core v3, and can do 320x on 640x screen

DVI:
* Is video only
* May support analog video
* Uses a large connector
* Was abandoned by major vendors in 2015; via Wikipedia, see EXTERNAL LINK
Vampires have digital video which is intended to work with current displays.

To use the DIGITAL-VIDEO name requires a license fee and royalty per connector, see EXTERNAL LINK

There are so many small run devices that don't pay this fee, even remember years ago Ti's beagleboard claimed the output was DVI-D output even though it had an DIGITAL-VIDEO output to get around it.

Basically, DVI is a dead standard.

The Open Source Scan Converter 1.6 has also changed to an DIGITAL-VIDEO connector EXTERNAL LINK

v4 is also noted to include DIGITAL-VIDEO amplifier, to solve the mentioned DIGITAL-VIDEO limits. So they do affect v1 and v2 users.
