Ethernet Options

I would like to bring my 500 with Vampire online.
What is the best option?

Should I wait for SDnet in Gold 3, or something other than that like the Plipbox? I am not going to expect anything like a pc does, Youtube and the like but would like reasonable Amiga speed.

I never did have luck with my 1200 with a wireless card and Easynet and would just use an ethernet hook up.

You can use SDNet right now with Gold 2.5 that is readily available.

Also FYI Freemilk on the #apollo-team @ freenode IRC channel has been selling premade SDNET units that are ready to go.

That sounds good except I do like using the sd card for file transfer.
Is this interchangeable?

yeah, but likely you will need to remove the SDNet driver from the network startup script when you switch back, also think there is some other file that comes into play if I recall.

Thank you Roy, knowing that I may try other options.

No idea.
I am Linux and WinDos user only.
But Tcp/Ip network rules are the same across systems.
Without default gateway you don't have acess to the internet and without Dns your Urls addresses will be not translated to the Ip numbers...
Btw: You have setup Dhcp to obtain your local area Ip number or set it staticaly...

What do you need more?!? You have to configure Miami Dx (I see in the Internet some graphical Gui for this). You have Option "Database" - then you select Dns form combo and type 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 (Google) not so fast as: 1.1.1.1 or 1.0.0.1 (they EXTERNAL LINK claim are fastest in the Intenret).
Some where (in Miami Dx options) you have to find option for default gateway and you have to type your router Ip number/adress.
And this is all!!! It is piece of cake if you do it at least once... Then you will be master of Internet for every Os you wish!!!
