| people need to control themselves. this kind of behaviour has been banned on other amiga forums long ago. and it is perticularly wrong in here. this forum is for technical assistance and valid information, not for the members to express themselves.

for a statement of the team refer to gunnars post. im simply familiar with attitudes and posting history of involved over years and different sites. i understand temper and emotion, but it may as well hurt the people and the projects, especially when it backfires uncontrolled.

| I ll keep myself restrained from "too much coffeine" and of exorbant wishes :-) I will even let more skilled people aid those in need of help. Mention of flame wars - was meant to be Amigans running joke, I am glad this place is quite free of it and shows inherit Amigans dream of getting Classics better. In my mind there is no US style absolute freedom of speech. Freedom ends once it starts insulting someone else (e.g. KKK, Stormfront, Church of Satan or neonazi party of US are no freedoms) So in my practice - I try not to offend people, unless offended. I agree its "good time to be Amiga owner" - again. Thanks to Apollo team! P.S. I do understand mixed bag - guessing, since we are about at the end of roadmap we have been told. Only way to remove that spell, is to post what you can when you wish to.

| @ Vojin you started this thread as " who wants to buy a vampire-standalone". That was a good idea. Than you could have simply waited for more and more people to post "count me in". But instead you moved to "my feature-wishlist for a future version" and everything got cluttered again And I have to say "Wawa" is right here. Many posts of yours are kind of unstructured, rather long, hard to read and not straight on topic :-/ I do not want to lecture you, but simply give you a honest feedback.

| Thanks for the feedback. Yup, will structure before posting so they get shorter, precise and not so boring.People can keep up posting their interest. It started counting, and I just added expectation of connectors expansions, clearly marked as "based on other solutions" (there is no other standalone related thread where to ask, neither I have anywhere seen any detailed info) I honestly do expect it to be - in expandability something in between closest competitor (FPGA Arcade) and previous work of the same team (Natami MX). Just compared what comes with those two. -------------------------------------------------------- What I hope will be answered for current standalone --------------------------------------------------- While we do understand what is likely to get in FPGA terms, board expansions and connectors are important matter. If you want it to structure it in direct questions: - Will we have one or more PCI slots? If yes, could it be 66Mhz if possible, 33Mhz legacy slots on NGs have proven disasterous - Will we have at least one Zorro slot for compatibility reasons? - Will we have USB / PS2 / DIN9 connectors? What about Serial and Parallel? Will there be a Wi-Fi or ethernet, or both? - Will there be any other video out beside DIGITAL-VIDEO? RAM - How much DDR3 will be bundled - Will we have option to expand RAM or not? Mass memory - Will we have card slot? - Will we have IDE or SATA intefrace? Form Factor MiniITX or something else? Expansion slot Any other special expansion slots? :) --------------------------------- Immidiate Preorder Interest ----------------------------------- So its 4 now for immediate preorder, As soon as it goes public. | Did You even try to read this forum? Almost all those questions are answered. To help You, I'll try answer for few of them, but start study forum before ask question answered already. - Will we have one or more PCI slots? If yes, could it be 66Mhz if possible, 33Mhz legacy slots on NGs have proven disasterous |
I have no any knowlede about any PCI slots on standalone board. It's old type of slot, there are almost no any drivers for PCI cards. It's not necesary I think - Will we have at least one Zorro slot for compatibility reasons? |
Probably some kind of Zorro will be included, need ask Gunnar - Will we have USB / PS2 / DIN9 connectors? What about Serial and Parallel? Will there be a Wi-Fi or ethernet, or both? - Will there be any other video out beside DIGITAL-VIDEO? |
Gunnar said all Amiga ports should be on standalone. It was long time ago, but I think it will be included. Ethernet should be on board, WiFi module is tested now on some Vampire. Video? Probably DIGITAL-VIDEO and standard Amiga out. RAM - How much DDR3 will be bundled - Will we have option to expand RAM or not? |
I think there will be no any DDR3. Gunnar was working on it, but it needs more powerfull FPGA to handle it. If I'm correct. RAM will be probably on board, 128MB or more. Mass memory - Will we have card slot? - Will we have IDE or SATA intefrace? |
SD for sure. Mayby some CFcard slot. IDE for sure. SATA will not be included. Form Factor MiniITX or something else? |
Need ask Gunnar, I have no idea and I don't care to be honest. I'll pack it even to lunch box. For me- it shuld just work :) Expansion slot Any other special expansion slots? :) |
I heard rummors about some kind of fast clock port. I think it's enouh. --------------------------------- Immidiate Preorder Interest |
Don't be ridiculous. Here are people who join project many years ago, on beginning. They deserve to be first on the list. You need wait for Your standalone board

| Michael, thank you for the effort. It actually shows we are still lurking in the dark, your guess is good as mine. ------------------------------------------------ On PCI bus: ------------------------------------------------ "It's old type of slot, there are almost no any drivers for PCI cards. It's not necesary I think" There are no OS 3.x drivers for PCI-E cards, but I believe Warp3D Cards could be used here with current w3d drivers. Also some other drivers were developed thanks to PCI expansions like Mediator (Sound Blaster etc.) that also might come handy, depending on users choice. In the end, PCI bus leaves more possible options for user upgrades to Zorro. Even some newer gfx and SATA cards etc. are made for "old PCI bus". So shouldnt be left outside, if possible. ------------------------------------------------ Immidiate Preorder Interest ------------------------------------------------ "Don't be ridiculous. Here are people who join project many years ago, on beginning. They deserve to be first on the list. You need wait for Your standalone board" I didnt ment team doesnt have some list somewhere from old days. I ment just people that have expressed interest recently (in other threads here). It doesnt influence any real pre-order list cause it isnt. Division is just between "immidiate wish of purchase" and "later on".

| @ Vojin: Still a little bit long, but very structured now! *thumps up* (now my own post will be unstructured in comparison)@stand-alone expansion ports: I don't care about PCI (what for?) or even Zorro. connectors: DIGITAL-VIDEO, USB, Joystick, ethernet and maybe wifi would be enough for me mass storage: as vampire models do now Please keep in mind that Natami died of "featureitis".

| I'm only guessing but now that they have a relationship with established Amiga hardware dealers it makes more sense to supply via the dealers than direct to customers going forward. Dealers are used to dealing with the admin/customer service side of operations and it free up more time for the Apollo Team hardware guys to do what they are good at.
