So we leave V3000/A4000 thread to interest of A3000/A4000 owners.

So far declared 3 interests for Standalone preorder
  (as of current V500 features)

As a proud owner of two A3000 - one of them without any accelerator - i would gladly buy a vampire for it!

But if the stand-alone version comes first ... i would not mind and buy one of these too!

some feedback would be nice... not necessarily *when* but *if* and in what order.
  What is the team planing?

I skipped the A500 and 1200 version and
am waiting for standalone. If possible
would like to be among first ones to
preorder. Im designing a modern 1200
like case for it in solid works at the
moment that will be produced on a industrial grade CNC machine.

absolutely!

The team can add me to the secret preorder list already!

You can add me too if I understand well what it is and though I do not know the features included on the board.

By original plan (p3) first goes V1200 then Standalone.
  Datasheet page 3
  EXTERNAL LINK
What is likely is that it is similar to V500/V600/V1200 Vampire
on Classic side + needed expansions. Only think known is that it should use Altera Cyclone V, thus more FPGA space, but remains
to be seen what will be made out of it (e.g. faster CPU? expansion controller? Wi-Fi or Ethernet onboard? Something else?).

I will be able to buy some point in 2018, hoping AROS and couple cores will make it even more mature and feature rich, but will miss all the earlybird joy.

It can be at least expected, periphal wise, hopefully to be similar to nearest competitor, that is FPGA Arcade.

Note: FPGA Arcade expansion list is just as reference to compare, and is NOT in any way connected to what Standalone will be.
  EXTERNAL LINK
  miniITX

  64 MB DDR2 DRAM.
  Wolfson HI-FI quality audio DAC.
  SD slot
  DVI out
  USB
  PS/2 and serial connectors.
Expansion slot for JAMMA expansion board, MC68060+Ethernet board, etc.

If of any value, Natami MX 2010/2011 design boards, used to be much feature-rich

Altera FPGA from the Cyclone IV-series, containing the enhanced Amiga chipset "SuperAGA" as well as other system logic, and the brand new 68k CPU design "N68050"
  -512 MB DDR2 SDRAM (onboard)
-1x PCI slot, expandable to 3x PCI with a PCI riser
-"SyncZorro" expansion slot, for adding f.e. a CPU card (68060 card will be available as an option for this slot)
-DVI-I port for 31kHz video (one can connect both analog VGA and digital DVI), scandoubling function for legacy modes
-15kHz RGB-output/input expansion slot (for optional 15kHz card)
  -Realtek RTL8110 Gigabit Ethernet
-NEC USB2 controller and USB ports
  -3,5 inch IDE port
  -Internal Compact Flash connector (IDE)
  -Kickstart flash memory
-Floppy connector (Amiga and PC drives both usable)
-Amiga serial port (although reduced to 9-pin)
  -Amiga parallel port
  -2x Amiga joystick/mouse port
-4x Cinch/RCA connectors for stereo sound output and input
-PS/2 keyboard/mouse ports (old bigbox Amiga keyboards are connectable)
-Classic Amiga LED:s along with scandoubler LED

I expect Vampire standalone to be "in between"

Are you part of the Apollo team?
If not, why are you taking this on?

No, I am not in any kind related to team.

Why having "standalone interest" therad?
Well, just to see how much interest there is, and to keep it out all other topics (pops from time to time).

There will be a day when official orders will be taken.

Presumably, first V1200 and then standalone, at best, both or at similar time.

Ideally, team would post a news related to standalone development here (when there is something to say more then "in the works")

I didn't want to comment because it will alter sales figures, figures that can in no way be determined anyhow.

I personally think that this topic will be deleted.

They want this but what the standalone will be, who knows?

What I know of the standalone that I have read on this website (all guesses are clearly marked):

1) It is 120 mm x 100 mm in size (They made that prototype about 3 months ago. Obviously that could change.)

2) It is supposed to have an Arria 10 on it

3) The Arria 10 has more LE (logic elements) than the FPGAs that the Vampire 2's that are out there now have

4) The Vampire has 32K data and instruction caches (68060 had 8K of each), the Arria 10 might be able to double both with the extra LE's? (I don't know) BUT, they will be able to do something useful with those extra LE's.

5) It will have 512 megabytes OR 1 gigabyte of RAM (I am hoping 2 gigs). And it is dividable almost unlimited (limited to onboard RAM) into chip or fast RAM.

6) The Arria 10 that they want to use (but might not be using) is 1.8 to 3 times as fast as the FPGA on the Vampire 2's. It depends on every instruction used, as to whether it's at the low end or high end faster.

7) The price was estimated at $500 US/444 Euro/385 UKP/$700 Cad.

That's all I know of it's features. I am hoping that it has P/S2 mouse and keyboard ports. I have a personal unshakeable feeling that USB is clumsy for this kind of input. I wish it had multiple joysticks/mice ports. Unfortunately, only USB it hot pluggable, though.

It blows EVERY OTHER hardware option out of the water!!!!

Not price wise.

However, nothing can emulate this computer!!!!!!!!

Oh and, I think that it's very likely that Dave Haynie is on your list.

I will buy one, would love to get 3.

And, I already am on the fictitious ASIC list. :-DDD

"he is dominating the forum now... omnipresent so to say"

Its not God like idea :-) Its some ideas, and some time.

I ll gladly quit for few months, with Team posting more regularly what is real and expected. Everything else is second guess.

But that is what forums are. Beside support and flamme wars :-)

Drama, tears, guess ... :-)

Well this forum has a clear purpose and idea behind it.

The purpose of this forum is that
  * Questions regarding SAGA and APOLLO can be asked and answered.
  * That people get help

What we do NOT like here are fights, flames wars,
also we do NOT like speculation - as speculation never helps anyone.
If you want to know something ask a clear question.
Also not liked so much are "wishlists"

For example Thierry post above was certainly done with good intentions.
But the content is NOT correct.
Thierry did post a mixture of 2 possible scenarious.
So the spec he is posting it not correct.

yes. i think whoever likes to post their phantasy on the net, should find an appropriate place. this all makes it here unreadable and messy and then others may carry someone assumptions and portray them as facts elsewhere, which leads to misunderstandings and disapointments.

Vojin, this not meant as a flame or something akin to it, as I think I share your dedicated passion regarding this project. So I ask respectfully: could you please decrease your posting rate?

I find that your long posts create more noise than actual valuable information.

Hey Guys

I do not like that someone active in these Open Forums should change his behaviour.

You could make this a closed forum - no problem. But as long as it's open, please let Vojin be Vojin. He has great passion for this project. I don't like blocking a person, just because he's posting more than others. Let the fundamental right of free speech rule or make this forum closed.

There is no such right.

This forum is dedicated to a certain technical topic.
This topic about APOLLO and SAGA, and partly about Vampire.
And OS matching those, E.g. ATARI, AMIGA OS 3, AROS,
If you talk about other off topic areas - you have to expect to get your post deleted.

Also if you post technically wrong stuff - which we fear might mislead and confuse people - you post could be corrected or removed.

So that people can ask for help perhaps? Gunnar has repeatedly stated what should be posted here and is repeatedly ignored. Requests for clarification and discussion on short terms goals is fine, but long term fantasy is pointless.

I removed it because it was off-topic to the forum and it was technically wrong.
Every forum in the world has the "house right" and has the right to decide what topic are allowed to discuss and what not.
This is fact.

There are so many things which can be discussed which match our forum areas here. Please help us and stay in them.

Hi Gunnar,

I really don't know which of the point form descriptions I made are wrong.

I thought I clearly pointed out what was by Apollo Team, and which part I hoped was going to happen. I didn't even include any ports on that board, because it was rather vague what was going to be included and what won't. We're left guessing and I didn't make very many at all.

We have some exuberant fans here, that's all.

I have never heard of a fundamental right to freedom of speech unless specifically put into rules or laws.

Ultimately this is a good time to be an Amiga owner.
