It is planned to build the vampire for Amiga 4000 or stop at 1200 and stand alone??

It's planned to have Vampire solutions for all Amigas. AFAIK no work has been done on specific A4000/A3000 model(s) yet. The priorities are supplies of boards for A600, A500 and getting the a1200 and standalone models ready. This makes sense to me as the availability of A600s, A500s and A1200s is probably much greater than A4000 or A3000s, so if people are desperate to have a Vampire they can probably get hold of one of the small Amigas relatively cheaply. I suspect the market for A3000 and A4000 Vampires is not exactly huge so it may be that an adaptor for the A1200 version is seen as a more viable solution similar to what happened with the A2000, just guessing.

I think design can be similar with v1200. Only pcb layout for A4000 cpu socket. Maybe some upgrade for zorro3.maybe it is not neccessary too.but if there will be v4000, people can buy parasite too. I think if it will be, I will buy parasite and v4000.

That's why I started the thread about Vampire on a module.  That someone else can develop I/O carrier boards that fit the A4000 CPU slot, CD32, PCI, Xorro or whatever so the team don't have to worry about all the weird and wacky hardware people want to plug a Vampire into.

I hope its not just 4000 only .. as an A3000 owner .. those machines are the exact type of machine that needs a vampire .. arguably more so than the 4000 does.. I hope whatever solution they choose supports both. As a combined market they have much more representation than either alone.

They have same cpu socket. I think it must not be problem.

But, if you take 100 people, 90 people have at least one A1200 and only 10 or 5 have an A4000. It's not a great business for the apollo team, build 4 type of vampire can be a waste of time... the goal will be to produce only one type of vampire then an universal adapter (if it possible) for every Amiga model to use whit the vampire 2, vampire 3  ecc, the issue is that every amiga has is own interface whit the cpu-card.

Only the apollo team can tell what their plans are

Gunner said road map on vampire for all amigas and we are waiting with hope.
I think one type card is enough of course same with standalone and it will be for A3000 and 4000, not only for 4000. like vampire500/2000. Buster is very slow . 13.5 mb/s Max. Only 66mhz bus. For zorro3 or pci it cant be. Cpu socket is perfect.

In this post he also said they expect to start selling the standalone at the beginning of this year.

Never ever believe what the Amiga hardware developers say about products being available and on sale.

I believe. It will be for 3000/4000.

Doesn't that pretty much apply to any product or service?

We're talking about a group that is effectively doing all of the work in their spare time and for free. If ETAs aren't in line with expectations I'm sure the it won't disrupt the universe.

When reinventing a 30+ year old system the important thing is to get it right.

It's not only about the hobbyists (like the Apollo team, or FPGA Arcade team) - regarding professional companies it is exactly the same. Since as long as I can remember...

Nope. This is one of kipper's little adapters he is so fond of. It may be useful for developing some new A1200 hardware without having to sacrifice too many A1200 connectors. It doesn't make sense to use it for an actual product as it doesn't exactly reduce the number of required connectors... :)

  Hi Gunnar.

  After v1200, will v3000/4000 come?

As a proud owner of two A3000 - one of them without any accelerator - i would gladly buy a vampire for it!

But if the stand-alone version comes first ... i would not mind and buy one of these too!

some feedback would be nice... not necessarily *when* but *if* and in what order.
  What is the team planing?
