V4 Standalone - Some Questions

Hi everyone! I've been using Commodores and Amigas since my first C64 back in 1983. I have recently gotten a Vampire 4 Stand Alone unit and have a couple of questions I can't seem to easily find the answers for.

I was able to correctly format a 4gb MSD card using "Rufus" and it is recognizable in the Micro SD Card Slot.

Here are my first two questions:

1) I want to order a larger card, is 32 GB the largest, or can I use a larger one and some special format to make it work? I have a few 128 Micro SD cards laying around but I wasn't sure if/how they would work?

2) I own the Amiga Forever software from Cloanto and have copied the Kickstart roms onto the Vampire 4 into the DEVS/KICKSTARTS/ folder, I read online that they may be needed for some games and that was where they go - what it did not way was what they should be re-named to be properly recognized?

That is where I am at right now with the Vampire, so far I am loving it. I can't get online yet because my ethernet connection is on a different floor in the house so I don't have a cable to use yet, but will experiment with that later.

Final question for now...

3) What format files do I need to run games, and how do I go about loading them up correctly? I can't find instructions online. I was going to dump some of my game files onto the Micro SD Card but the ones I tried as a test don't load, I just get errors when I try clicking.

Thanks everyone!
Thomas

Cool.
You can use 128GB CF or Micro SD with an adaptor.
Put Apollo boot and Coffin on it, it has 99.9% of all games ever released.
It comes with a great launcher called iGame.
I have learned so much using my V4 SA.
  Just experiment with it.

You can use any size.
SDdcards up to 32GB are preformatted as FAT and might work out of the box.
SDcards over 32GB come typically preformatted with NTFS to use them on AMIGA you just need to reformated them with rufus with FAT.

Yes some WHDLOAD games need Kickstart 1.3
The game will tell you this.

Thanks for the reply David, I'll check out Coffin and see if I can figure it out. :)

Thanks Gunnar, that info is helpful. I thought it had to be FAT32. I have large SD cards, I'll try tonight to reformat one of those.

Hi,

I thought you were talking about the internal CF card.

Were you referring to the data exchange card ?

There are a few FAT32 formatters that support XC cards.

Did you just get your V4 standalone ?

Hi David,

Yes, I meant the external one "SD0".  I got my vampire a few months back but was in the of moving so I just recently got it setup and have begun to mess around with it.

I have it recognizing the external Micro SD card now, but it isn't showing the full size of the space available. I think I read somewhere that you have to expand the disk size or something, I'm going to try messing with it more this weekend.

I have a question too. Where to set the jumper for Turbomode V4SA? I need a picture of it

That feature is currently disabled as far as I know. It was the two pins in the middle set of expansion pins (first two on the left) as I recall. It was causing issues getting stable release cores as I recall.
