How Long for a Vampire V1200 V2?

Hi

Having just bought my Vampire V4 (which is great BTW), completely unexpectedly I came into possession of an A1200. I would like to bring this up to as high a standard as I can, and would like to put a Vampire V1200 in there rather than a conventional 680x0 accelerator.

What is the current expected wait time for a V1200 please? Just so I can understand how long I might have to wait (and so I can decide whether to buy an 8MB RAM expansion in the meantime while I'm waiting).

Thanks
Chris

Its going to be a year I am still waiting for V1200, Will the customer have wait a year for Raptor too?

You are right, the waiting time for the V1200 is a major problem.
The Apollo-Team also sees this and we highly regret that our fans need to wait so long.
Being aware of the problems the Apollo-team of course tried a lot to support Igor as good as possible and help him together with the soldering by a professional company.
Our goal was that all Vampires card should be on stock, and that people should have zero waiting time. Just like you have zero waiting time today when buying a V4-Standalone.

Unfortunately we get no informations from Igor at the moment about production and waiting time. We are really sorry here, this lies only in Igors control.

Simple answer: I expressed my interest in March 2020 and have not yet received a card in my hands or even an email asking whether I really want to buy. Calculation: Minimum 14 months waiting time

Yes the V1200 production is slow and very unpredictable,
the Apollo-Team is aware of this problem and works on a solution.

The Team is working on a new card for A1200 based on V4 with 512 MB ram and other features like 100Mbit Ethernet.

Does this mean the current V1200 will be discontinued soon?

A V4 for the 1200 would be amazing but won't the problem still be the same, long waiting times due to chip shortages?

This is no problem.  We have all part for V4-1200 production of hundreds of cards stocked up.

The V1200 shortage is not caused by chip shortages.

I have V2 in my A1200 and like it very much. Just hope V4 in A1200 will be able to push 1080p resolution @60Hz. This is the only thing I'm missing now...

Thanks

Is it just me or is Gunnar blaming Majsta publicly for the situation?

This and the other thread, where he says he cannot get status, certainly has me wondering WTF..whatever is going on, I guess sales of V2-1200 just took a dive.

He is not blaming him, it is simply just too demanding to produce so many cards.. Check the news section for an update, igor stepped down from the team after too high work and stress load.. Igor rocks and deserves our full respect, and it seems like for me that the apollo team does respect him and now gives him time to relax again..

I feel uncomfortable about the way that this has played out.

First the silence and avoidance of questions on the future of the V1200 (V2) - that has a larger FPGA than the V600/V500 lack of answers when probed.

Now the announcement of new cards with some features , we were expecting to find on the V2 such as 16 bit audio.

The messaging here is all wrong - i now feel like my as-yet unused vampire is a Lemon because gunnar basically said - and i quote

Gunnar wrote on 29th June

"also the future of the V1200 is very uncertain"

Damn right its uncertain.

Cue the spiel about understanding the feature set etc

Igors decision came to us as total surprise the same way as to you.

Of course we knew it since a few days, some weeks actually,
At first we were puzzled and wondered if this was only a mood
or is this is for sure. After we were sure this is for certain we prepared the announcement to inform the public.

Thank you Gunnar for explaining the situation. My best wishes to Igor - his effort to date are appreciated.

Very excited by the prospect of the new V4 1200 card, hope we will be able to buy one soon :)

Nobody has asked this yet so im going to do so.
Will you be offering an upgrade path.
In my case my V1200 is unused still in box - am i better of sticking it on ebay if I decide i want a V4 card?
