New Vampire V4 Standalone Owner Silly Questions

Hello,

A few questions from a proud new owner. I couldn't get the keyboard or mouse to recognize in ApollOS without putting them in specific USB ports. I have the keyboard in the back USB port, the joystick in the top front USB port and the Mouse bottom front USB port. Is this normal?

Also I wanted to try to boot into EMUTos/Freemint. The instructions say to hold the fire button on the joystick when switching the power on and it will boot into Atari clone OS. I can't seem to do that. I have tried every button on the Joystick so far without any luck to attempt this. Any ideas?

Thanks, Bhadra

Yes the USB ports are dedicated.
As explained in the manual the
- keyboard should be plugged in the back next to the Ethernet.
- Mouse on the front in the lower of the double USB ports.
- Joypad on the front in the higher of the double USB ports.

While normal Amiga and Atari DB9 Joystick have 1 button
the Joypad has many FIRE buttons. The button called "A" is matching the normal 1st Amiga button.
Please make sure to set the switch on the backside of the Pad to "D" mode.

btw there is an online discord support channel, where many people are online all the time. In my experience its worth joining there as support questions as you can get help, advice and ideas there quickly.

I think you need to enable tcp/ip first. If its ApolloOS I think its in one of the dropdown menus.
If its Coffin I think its AMItcp you need to run.

You need to check "start à star up " somewhere in prefs (don't remember where, using AmigaOS 3.2 with Roadshow)

Hi John,
This is of no help for you, but...

For me no extra things where needed for browsing.

-plug kabel in from router.
-vampire on. (also v4sa+)
-click 'Aweb' button on the lower bar (wbdock)

web pages could be accessed.

This was with delivered core & os. (with squid background)

Depending on the version of ApolloOS, there may be a button bar that runs up the left side of the screen when you click on the bottom left corner button. There's a networking button there, and an option to start it. That would at least confirm it's not starting at boot. There should also be a menu option as mentioned preivously, that would allow you to enable it during startup. Newest version of ApolloOS will ask during the preferences setup whether or not you want networking to start automatically.
