Can an WiFi enabled SD card be used in a A600 Vampire 2?
Would that give us WiFi capability with proper driver?

Do you get micro-sd wifi enabled cards ?
If they require no drivers and just make files appear on the SD card when accessed via a remote computer then I guess it could work .. probably wouldn't work while the card was mounted by Amiga OS, not sure how it would like blocks changing without the OS knowing they are changing :-)

  1) Well on cameras you access the files via a mobile device or PC.
But I think it's only for FAT formatted devices.
What if the SD card is format in FFS, FPS or IPS?

  2) Could this give us WiFi connection via Workbench with the proper driver. As far as I Googled there are 3 offerings: EyeFi, Toshiba and Transcend.
Would any of WiFi cards allow access from Workbench?

The solution presented over at Apollo-accelarators is even better than what I imagined. :D
Ethernet over the SD slot with the SDNet driver in progress :)
They are getting already 1.6MB/s with ENC28J60 based module. :thumbsup

Take a look and post your findings and suggestions here.

12.8 MBit/s over a 10 MBit/s module? Please let me cast some doubt over your post.

You're right Henryk my bad. :(
I misquoted the speed of an PCMCIA Ethernet card of one of the forum members. ( post 12 from guibrush)

  Rectification of my error:
The upload speed is momentarily 738kB/s en download 843 kB/s.
As you certainly know this a work in progress and will evolve by your Team.

Thanks for the big effort the Apollo Team is putting in this solution.

  Some questions for you Henryk:
Will the faster Ethernet modules like 424J600 or others also be supported?
Theoretically, can this solution be replicated on a SD2IDE on the Amiga IDE or a SD2CF in the PCMCIA slot?  If yes,  Would this require a lot of work?

  All the best,

    All the best,

No prob. My primary motivation was a replacement for the PlipBox, both in terms of speed and used-up space. I still don't like the current way of polling for incoming data and would like to change that before a release beyond the realm of beta-testers.

Of course, I've had a look at the available 10/100 modules. Sadly, most of them are optimized for parallel data transfer. The 424J600 you mentioned does only 14 MHz over it's SPI link (compared to 20 we get with the 28J60). I do have some interest in 10/100 Ethernet, especially for the autonegotiation but won't be able to promise anything at this point.

Concerning SD2IDE adapters, the answer is most probably "No". These adapters have their own logic for translation from SD to IDE and vice versa. This is very different from my approach, where I use the SD slot as a kind of GPIO.

For Amigas with a PCMCIA slot, the networking options are already there - along with drivers. A500 owners were not so lucky, yet.

Perhaps a future Vampire revision could expose more pins to enable parallel I/O. I'm sure this is likely on the roadmap already.

Thanks for your answer Henryk. Hope you find the time to optimise the driver. :-)
All the best,
