Amiga 600 Kipper 2K V2 - Newbie Advice

Hi,

I have purchased a second hand V2 which was roughly batch 2 from the waiting list, marked 2015 and manufactured by Kipper 2K.  The board is dark blue (I only mention this as I've seen reference to green boards).

I have been told that it is still on the core that it shipped with (whatever that would have been).

Please can someone share any issues, fixes or mods I should consider on this early board and what the latest core I can put on it is?  Ideally I'd like AGA via DIGITAL-VIDEO.

It will probably end up in my Checkmate case, which is currently an SD card based build, with IDE DVD Rom, on an A600 1.5 board, recapped, with a Furia (that will be removed) and Indy V2, 603 1MB upgrade with dual clock ports, PCMCIA transfer card, Rapid Road, RF Port Removed and Workbench 3.9.1 with a custom 3.9.1 rom chip that includes some Furia mods, which I'll now remove from the Startup Sequence.

Thanks in advance, Ady

Well just to be clear, don't expect a fully functional AGA core any time soon. Also there may be sacrifices to any such core to work as it needs to bypass the normal chipsets, like lack of floppy drive and such. There is an alpha core if you like to try it, but in my opinion it isn't worth it and personally I don't see a need for AGA at all with RTG being present.

cores can be found here, exe versions can be updated via amigashell, jic require the USB blaster... I'd say try the latest, if it doesn't work you may need to use the USB blaster to try another version. There is a power fix modification that may solve the problem.

Thanks Roy,

Much appreciated.  I'll look into that.  I'm not fixed on AGA at all.  Just would have been nice.  Would rather have stability.  What's the most popular Core in your opinion for the best stable experience.

Best,

Ady.

Heh, Realized I never actually linked the page with the core updates for the V600.
