DiagROM On Vampire Or Recommended Testing Toolset

Is it possible to run the DiagROM in a Vampire v2 600? If so, how?

If it is not possible, what would be the recommended toolset to test the Amiga overall around? (memory, cpu, graphics, disk i/o, ports...)

You could try Advanced Amiga Analyzer 2.0

Yes you can MAPROM the diagrom.

Do you have a specific problem you try to understand?

Yes, the Amiga 600 is randomly freezing or rebooting. Most of the times it happens at kickstart time, so Workbench won't even load. In some ocassions, Workbench is able to load and usable for about 3 minutes until it freezes or reboots. There is no significant CPU usage associated to the freezing.

If I try the Vampire MAPROM it says the integrity check didn't pass when I try to load the DiagROM, that's why I was asking.

Amiga 600 board revision is 1.5
Vampire v2 600 is very first version from Majsta (capacitor fix done), with Gold Core 2.11.

Ah, to add more information, I can see Software Failure Error: 8000 000A

I finally ended removing the Vampire and using AIBB will full test suite. It is rock solid (my A600 is also recapped), so I guess it is something related to the Vampire V2.

A few questions:
How can I pinpoint whats happening? Maybe the socket lost pressure with time?
Also, I did the capacitor fix, using electrolitic capacitors. Were these the right kind? (of course they are 22uF 16v)

Hard to say from here.
  There can be many reasons.
  A) you need a more green core.
  B) your caps fix was not perfect.
    Maybe you need more caps.
I would use ceramic 22uf and each 2 of those at least.
For electrolyte maybe 200 uf would better not sure.
  c) Your card has maybe not optimal contact.
This is a common problem on Amiga600

Thanks for the help Gunnar, very appreciated! I think the more immediate thing to check is the contact with the CPU and maybe I can replace my electrolytic capacitors with the ceramic ones.

About the core, what do you mean by green? Lower version with safe flavour?

Also, is it possible to bypass the integrity check in the Vampire maprom tool so I can load the diagrom?

Problem solved: it was the socket. It looks like the accelerator loses fixing to the CPU with time. After putting it again it started working properly.

I have been running Quake for 4 hours in 640x400 15bit color and RIVA player AMMX version for about 30 minutes. The system has been rock solid without stability problems.

Thanks for the support!
