I can report that ide-fix97 crashes v1200 even with pcmcia core (I had no problems on v600)

I've made my tests again with the new core. Small changes are visible - in the following only the differences to the old core.

BreathlessAGA & BreathlessAGA 060 - NoCache - working, but slow and with sounderrors.

Robinson Requiem AGA - NoCache - working, and the most interesting part - now it's possible to swim. :) (doublechecked)

Frontier - NoCache & Cache working - but with some screenflickering. With an "normal" HD Install no problems at all

If I haven't mentioned one of the other games or test, it still doesn't work.

Edit: I've compared the chipmem speed with other turbocards - impressive progress. Fastest card in terms off chipmem read/write speed for the A1200

Edit2: Ambermoon is now also noticeably faster. :) With the old core it was slower than with a Blizzard 1230.

Hi! Is there any compatibility issue between V1200 and ideCF? Right now my A1200 +Blizz works on a 16GB cf.... (I'm just asking because the  A600 with furia does not like CF, only the IDE-SD stuffs)Thx!

Testing my new v1200 nowadays. About 60 AGA high-end demos.
  10% glitches / 90% works like a charm!

btw, our last demo works fine! I made a video comparing with blizzard 1260:

Try Haujobb - My Kingdom. Music is very weird. Something like module player is flying on patterns with speed of light...

Do You have some green dots on first scene in Haujobb - Signals? It looks like on Amibian with jit FPU. Tested on V1200 with pcmcia enabled core.

Yep, as I said 10% of all AGAdemos that I tested have gfx-glitches. I also see green dots in Signals demo and weird dots glitches in godzilla scene at Knarkzilla demo by Ephidrena. Sure that Gunnar continues improve the core little by little. good work!

At the moment, if the GAYLE is in core V1200-IDE will work, but PCMCIA or motherboard-IDE will not.

    Hi Simo,

    thanks for your updates.

I suppose there is no straightforward way to support this due to the unfortunate mixing of PCMCIA and IDE status register bits in Gayle.

Of couse you could run a fast internal I/O cycle on the remapped V1200 IDE registers, and a slow extrrnal A1200 mainboard Cycle on the Gayle status registers, filtering the IDE status write bits towards Gayle for write cycles, and substituting IDE status read bits for read cycles with the Vampire V1200 status bits. It‘s a dirty hack, but would probably work.

Or you could remap the V1200 IDE registers altogether to a different IO space and patch / provide an alternative scsi.device.

Didn‘t Gunnar mention a DMA capable IDE controller for V4? ;-)

We are working now with the V1200 blitter timing. When it's done, we'll come back to this. I think Gunnar and Igor have some ideas for this.

@Amike

Thanks for testing. V1200 and which core version?

Please, instead of 7 out of 10, provided such list of non working (and how) titles.

Its a way to go. It was like that with all V2 and now there are 3 titles that are known not to work.

i got my USB blaster today, and flashed to the new beta core, i went with the one that had IDE enabled, but no PCMCIA

I can report a big improvement, mainly with screen draw speeds, under certain circumstances, and alot more WHDLoad games are working, albeit, some with some glitches. The card shipped with the original X11 core, as it was the only initial release.

Doom has went from 24 FPS on the original core, to about 35 FPS on the newer core, and is hugely better.

Hexen and Descent both show marked improvements in framerate, as does Quake, although not as much.

Games that didn't work on the oringal X11 core, are now working, although performance on games like AB3D, AB3D2, Gloom, Breathless etc, is still really slow. Slower than my ACA1233n. Several games have sound and/or graphic glitches, but in general, it's a vast improvement.

Test's in AIBB are faster, specifically TGText, Line, Beachball, Elipse and ScreenDraw. There is also a slight increase across the boards on other tests, whereas the original core gave identical performance to my V2 A600. Screen draw speeds in SysSpeed are now, better, and most tests are trading blows with the Apollo 1260, some worse, some better.

It's much better :) if PCMCIA could be enabled at the same time as the Vamp's IDE it would be killer, and if the performance issue with some games sorted to, I am sure it will all get sorted as we go along.

Activate "Cache" in the WHD Tooltypes, this speed up games like AB3D2.
