I can imagine once the doors open for this card demand will be unprecedented.

I wonder about that. A lot of us 1200 owners maybe couldn't wait and went with the 500. Just a surmise.

But the V500+Users have still no internet or have a very slow connection with plipbox...

I think its a mix..
For a long time, the A1200 was the only Amiga that I used but when the Vampire was announced I bought a A600 just to put a Vampire in it.
Then the V500 was revealed and I was a little tempted to dust off the A500s and upgrade them, then I decided the at least one A500 should remain "original" and the other one already had Blizzard turbo mem with some FastRAM and slightly faster cpu + GoTek, enough for most old games.
However, I'm still waiting for the V1200 anyway.
Most A1200 owners were used to upgrading their machine to make it more and more powerful. A lot of us maxed it out with an overclocked 060 and wished for even more... So Vampire 1200 is very much consistent with what most A1200 would want in their machine, I think ;-)
(Lots of A500/600 owners never expanded beyond some extra RAM and a HDD.)
The V1200 trapdoor card is also more appealing to me since it much easier to take it out of the machine compared to V500/600. (For e.g. if I want to put back 060 card to do comparisons or whatever)

I think it is quite fair to start with A500 and A600, as usually these two models don't get the richness of different accelerators the 1200 has; not to mention none of them go beyond the 030 and are tied to ECS without RTG. They are also way cheaper than the 1200 :)

Without the Vampire you still have the chance to beef up the 1200 with 060... And AGA will allow you to have a very decent desktop even without RTG.

I owned in the past a 500, 1200 and 4000; but today I only have a 600 and I couldn't be happier with it.

After saying that, I really hope 1200 users can get it eventually :)

I am eager to buy a V1200, although I have a V500 V2+ and take the risk of getting divorced ,-) ... but married with another Vampire.

I will risk many things to get the A1200 Vampire.  :)

i am (supporting) fan of all these particular projects (natami, vampire, apollo) from the day one and i do not have any vampire nor did i applied for one, nor have been spamming forums for availability. nor is it all for jaelous wife or girlfriend. vampire 1200 might be one if finally order, but whether sooner or later or never i really wonder why people need everything served in an instant, only just to call it their own..

i realizie that we are born to materialistic society with a strong urge for posession, but the project develops its own dynamics and ideas while it progresses. being able to get your item rather later may not be a handicap, since it evolves, and if you want to contribute, you can, even if you are not effectively posessing one..

I have to say I'm a little shy to speak about the V1200.

While there are people which like to sell stuff which not even exists yet - I do not like this.

All I can tell you is that the Standalone and the V1200 use the same design/components/basis - and the standalone I have here.

So please be a little patient.
We will soon have more info to share.

That alone speaks volumes.

I think we're all just excited about the product that we know is coming based on the success of the other boards. I for one do not advocate constant nagging for updates or other rude behavior but a little anticipation is a good thing. My earlier post was in jest, of course.

Yes Wawa, this is a basic human trait. I am in a business making custom  products. I can go weeks and sometimes months with designs and revisions why they wait, hem and haw. When they have finally decided they are ready to move forward, a good portion want to know how fast they can get it.

Still, it's nice to have something others want and will pay well for. I would love to be in the postion the Apollo team is in now.

I should clarify my position. My business and skills are in graphic design and commercial signage. I am of no use to you technical people, just a fan :)

i am a contemporary painter, believe me or not. but i have learned how to test some stuf, set up a compiler and mess a bit with the code.. not that much, i admit, just as far as i have been able to, on the other hand i am looking for something actually different that what i am working on the rest of the time.

My understanding is (maybe?) we will be able to plug in a simple ESP8226 module onto the header thats on the V500 board... someone posted a pic of such an arrangement a while back and others commented the drivers were not yet ready.

this pic is what I mean  EXTERNAL LINK

Yes, I have this module. I am also just waiting for the drivers...hopefully the Apollo-Team will find the right Person who is able to make us this present.

I have also noticed the Arduino-type WiFi card and the six pin expansion header that may enable wireless for the V500 V2+ when Amiga drivers are available. I would also hope we can add other Arduino-type devices such as Micro USB or BlueTooth that would also require Amiga drivers. I have been doing some intense programming using C# for some of my Disk Virtualization software and I have dabbled in C/C++ and translated some to C# but I haven't proprammed or compiled for the Amiga yet so I can't help with Amiga drivers. The closest thing to Amiga programming for me was when I recently wrote 2 programs called ILBM Image Viewer and IFF Icon Editor to to open 4,5,6,7 bitplane images and convert to 8 bits per pixel chunky format to view and save as modern picture format (jpg, png, etc). So I can greatly appreciate the work that Gunnar and Philippe and others have done with Amiga planar modes and converting to 8 bitplanes to display as 1024x768 on an LCD monitor. I believe 8 bitplane graphics is also a subset of AGA so the team are well advanced in developing the Super AGA chipset. I can only imagine the amount of bitwise operations involved to convert the graphics. As I understand it, bitwise operations such as this are normally handled by the FPU and an Apollo Core FPU could enhance conversion of chunky to planar, or planar to chunky! Being able to display Amiga graphics as 8 bitplanes, or 8 bpp chunky, or even 24 bpp chunky are also AGA functions. I look forward to programming on my V500 V2+ once I set up my design tools and compilation tools for C/C++ on the Amiga. Maybe I will start with compiling the ILBM Viewer by Sander Van der Burgh on the Amiga since it is similar to my Amiga IFF programs. If it can only open, read and display Amiga images maybe I could modify it to save IFF or modern picture files using a modern picture.datatype? Maybe eventually I can work up to programming Amiga drivers for new hardware. Until then I can only hope for that hardware and rely on someone else to write those Amiga drivers. I hope they enable the Arduino WiFi module soon! ;-)

The sane thing to do would be to make a Poseidon driver for an usb module. Then WiFi and everything else comes for free.

For what its worth the ESP8226 module thats in the picture is about $7 USD .. its pretty cheap (probably could be found cheaper elsewhere i am sure)  EXTERNAL LINK
