V4 Standalone Compatible Mouse

I don't suppose anyone UK based can point me in the direction of a mouse I'd be likely to get from the high street over the holidays?

V4SA arrived yesterday but I can't do anything useful with it due to lack of mouse. Luckily I have a Red Dragon keyboard here but I've tried 6 or 7 mice and none of them work so it looks like I need to buy something.

From what I've seen the V4 looks awesome and i'll be surprised if it doesn't end up replacing my GB-A1000/060 but I need a mouse to get in and set it up.

Thank you.

PS: Slightly disapointed that the case doesn't have the Vampire logo on it as it does in all the pictures I've seen but that's a minor point really.

Obviously I've already seen that. I was more thinking of anything i might be able to just walk into a store and buy (in the UK) rather than having to order something online and wait for the holidays to be over before I get it.

Go to a store (or better e-mail/phone them first) do they have any of listed models. Its the only way.

Future core revisions should bring more USB compatibility.

Exact reason why bying a system from reseller (Amiga dealer) is always a best option, only compatibile devices will be featured.

Not sure that really helps. I didn’t know about this forum or the wiki until I read the ‘manual’ that came with the product so even though I ordered from Vesalia I did not know in advance there were only a few that worked. Really, if there are only a few and the are just a few dollars, it should be included.

Anyway, moving on. I found a ‘Hama MC-200’ in the store for £7. Please add it to the list of mice that work.

They are included when you buy extended systems from dealers, not just the case and the board, and were on Naiss Amiga event.

Thanks for adding a new Hama device. More and more will work as core gets revised.

Extended systems were not an option. Just "register interest here" months ago and then about a week ago an email sying please pay this invoice if you are still interested. A few days later, open the box and see what is in it.

So now, trying to find a screen mode that works (apart from PAL High Res)

This is very unfortunate. And I feel sorry for this.
We try to offer systems with mouse and keyboard and pre-installed AROS WB. Plug and play ready.

Don't worry, I am pleased to have the system but I'm just struggling a bit! I have installed Coffin R55. I don't really know if that is the intended route or not but I initially at least just wanted a look at the system.

So now I have a keyboard and mouse I can't get any output from any of the RTG modes, only PAL High Res. I have tried a TV and also a Freesync Monitor. So I wonder if I should update the SAGA drivers. I download them on my Mac and now I am sitting here wondering how to get the updated drivers onto the V4. Obviously no Ethernet (yet - I do have a Mini ENC28J60) and I am looking at spare SD card trying to decide what I need to do to get it to be seen (it currently has linux partitions on it). And it looks like the SD card support comes from SAGA drivers. Umm. Oh ! Catch 22 maybe? Depends if Coffin OS R55 supports the SD Card. Let me try...

Martin to be able to best support V4 users we have a support channel.
All V4 users should have been invited to it.
There are all V4 owners and developers and people can help each other best there.

Can you ping me on IRC and give your email address then I can set you an invitation link?

Thanks - and Gunnar.

I will sort email and IRC etc. shortly. I will need to go out again but I'm hoping to have a proper attempt at sorting this out later today.

Obviously I wasn't expecting this before Xmas at all so it was a very nice surprise but since it is here I was now hoping to have a look and see if I can get anywhere on v4 with an SDL based project I'm involved with at the moment.

They will be, for those willing to wait. Rest of us, have to think a bit.

Oh boy.  I suspect I will be in the same situation.  Did you purchase from Vesalia?

I did, yes. I was lucky enough to find a working mouse in a computer shop down the road befor it shut for Xmas. One other thing though, I didn't receive the advice that I would also need a USB Blaster to update the core which is now being suggested I should do.

Yeah, I've been wondering whether I should get on the waiting list at Appollo, rather than waiting for an incomplete unit from Versalia. They don't have a complete package option, just the board, case and PSU. I queried about that a while ago, and was not told that they would offer a 'package' deal, but would at some point have the pieces to create one. I've not seen any movement in that direction unfortunately.

If you're not on a list at all then I don't really see it as a problem which you go for because you'll have plenty of time to get a compatible mouse and keyboard together, AND the list is growing all the time (slowly, but growing all the same).

It was only really a nuisance for me because the unit turned up the day before all the shops were due to close for Xmas so getting one delivered wasn't really an option for me. But even in a quiet seaside town I still managed to find a mouse that worked.

One thing that will be worth considering is the EU situation if you are in the UK. I have no idea what impact ordering from the EU will have if we leave at the end of the month as there is every indication that we will. I have no desire to get into a political conversation, so please don't, just pointing out the obvious that we could do with a UK reseller option like Amigakit.

This past week, I emailed Versalia to cancel my pre-order, and requested one through Amedia Computer instead. The communications I received from them were much more professional and complete, so I know exactly what I'm paying for, and should have a 100% functional setup once it ships to me. Crossing my fingers I'll see a unit before the end of this year.
