I am wonder whether is this possible to connect Cyclone/Aria/other FPGA to cheap AMD south bridge?!? It will be nice solution for limited team resources. We will gain PCIEx, SATA and USB at once!!!

I know, I know it was only my dream...

Even if it is possible, two years from now AMD will discontinue the chip and replace it with something incompatible, forcing the team to create completely new card and write new drivers from scratch. And 2 or 3 years later - again. Not worth the hassle, in my opinion.

Also this may be a wait and see thing -- PCIe, SATA, Thunderbolt, and USB all seem to be on a path to converging...

I would consider SATA "legacy" at this point given the future for PC storage is PCIE storage (NVME drives).

Lets set the expectation right.
We produce accelerator and we will produce stand alone systems.

The aim for stand alone system is to be small and complete systems with Audio/Video/Internet ...  We do NOT aim to create Tower-Systems with lots of PCI ports.

Have you considered partnering with an sbc maker to make production easier and cheaper? One of the SBC makers, Pine64, are releasing a baseboard with "compute module" shortly. They have done all the shipment and manufacturing business so Majsta and Kipper2k don't have to waste their lives in solder fumes to achieve the collective amiga fanbase dream. I can make contact happen if the Apollo team wants to trade experiences (and frustrations).

Yes of course.
We have already arranged for such partnership for the future.
