Saw this on ebay today...

You can bid on them on ebay, but they're not available for pre-order yet?

I can't understand anything, now vampire cards sell by auction??? Incredible.

Great product and fantastic project that frustating users and amiga fans step by step.

Preorders that have continiously delays, waiting lists, growing prices, and now speculating with his own product. All this things only with the accelerator for the residual model of Commodore A600, what they do with the massive demand and presure of accelerators for A500 or 1200 ????

I thing that Vampire Team are a great enginers with great project and ideas but a very bad Salesman :(.

As a Vampire user and Fan i'm very frustating .

They have produced far more high end accelerators than anyone else in the last 20 years and yet all they get is abuse for doing a service for the community. They owe you nothing and deserve to be treated with respect. I understand the frustration but some others on here seem to have an entitlement problem.

assuming its majsta himself (i have not checked it) its completely legit in my eyes. i have even proposed that myself. "speculating with an own product" - mygod, he is perfectly within his right to distribute his hardware as he pleases, even on supply/demand basis.
what he is well advised not to do, is to deliver his product under its value for others to speculate with.

edit: especially the gus seems to have invested (time, money, motivation, intelligence) and delivered so much as almost none else. if the money helps keep these people and project going, they should collect it by all means before it falls in the hands of lamers.

Majsta have full right to sell his items in eBay and make 80,000 dollars a card if it reaches...and not only we have no right to complain...but we should cheer him for making that much if he makes it. You want newer hardware models? You want Vampire 1200 which is superior over Vampire 500/600, you want FPU? You want AGA? You want standalone? You want...and want...and want...they are not some Genie in a lamp that you just rub the lamp and poof you have three wishes. No! They are human beings and people like you...who have expenses just like you and need to eat, and have money to make projects successful. They need parts, they need orders, they need this and all of these are expenses. Let Majsta raise money at his leisure without us hawking at him..so he can take this money and put it in his project. OOORRRRRRrrr.....you he can put that auction down and you pay him thousands and ten thousands of dollars as donation so he can move on. It is up to you!

Yep. I second that. Especially those, who have followed his recent activities will know that he has spent substantial amounts of money to increase his production capacity.

Yes, indeed he has got every right to get something back for the time and money invested in his Amiga-centric projects.

After talk with majsta i think all this is a confusion or bad comunication. He make some card for auction to help with some money to make some test for production V1200.

I think people misunderstood me. I wasn't complaining and I completely agree that he can do whatever he wants with his hardware.

The listing just looked fishy to me and was wondering if it was legitimate. Seems like if he needs to fund this more, rather than selling a one-off on ebay, he could take pre-orders instead. Get some money, finish building them. I'm sure we'd be much happier knowing we have our name on one that way too. Just a random thought ;)

Again, it's his venture, his hardware and he can do as he wishes.

The Description explains a lot:

"After many years of development Vampire 500 V2 accelerator is finished and this is first official sale.
Mass production isn't planned yet and from time to time accelerators will be offered on eBay to raise funds for future projects."

Makes complete sense after reading EXTERNAL LINK

It's been mentioned som many times; Why don't the team open a Patreon so they can get funding from people that have extra money and want to help can do this? If money and funds is a problem, how can you say no to free money from the community?

It is awesome isn't it.
For all those naysayers and pessimists I say "O ye of little faith."
I always knew someone would come along one day who could see the real potential of the Amiga and do something to help it see the light of day.
I watched a video on Majsta's website recently about 3 minutes of his life. Wow what challenges he had to overcome to bring this to fruition and this is not the end but only the beginning.
I think the names of this Apollo team will go down in Amiga folklore like those who worked on the original creation of the Amiga.
The only sad thing about this are those who still want something for nothing. All those who can't wait a few months when some have been waiting years. They are probably the ones who pirated all the games that contributed to many software developers leaving the Amiga scene. This had just as much a part to play in the demise of the Amiga & Commodore as did anything else.
I speak from personal experience as I tried about 10 years ago to start a small computer business and found those same type of people who wanted something for nothing. Just not worth it in the end.
Good on you Majsta for putting the A500 V2 on eBay. Only question is it a Black edition?
This project must survive and we must support it not bag it and those who have given so much for it.

All the best to Team Apollo. May the Amiga Force be with you

Isn't it time for a Kickstarter?
Backers enough I would say :-)
I know I would love to back it :D

Ooh and all the best to Majsta, The Apollo Team and Kipper2k. They should put their names on the standalone like the creators of the original Amiga 1000 did :D

Perhaps the time has come a Kickstarter. Readjust prices originally announced and make the leap to a new FPGA and contemplate the possibility of going to ASIC. Once developers are happy with the core.

A greeting.

I heartily agree.
However not sure about the new FPGA for the add-on cards for a1200 and whatever other cards the team have in mind. I think the new FPGA will be Arria 10 as already mentioned for the Stand-alone but currently they are using the Cyclone  III and I think they will stay with that till all the bugs are ironed out.
But having said that, a Kickstarter could be what is needed to move things a long a little to satisfy the impatient among us.
I really prefer to leave those decisions up to Team Apollo/Vampire as I think they have done alright by most of us so far. I believe they are happy for us to make suggestions but not demands.
I would think that ASIC would be at least 2 and possibly 3 years away if ever. Let us encourage them and wait and see what they come up with.

Cheers from Oz

HELLO Alan Haynes!

YOU NEVER KNOW WHO'S WATCHING!

Sometimes the kickstarters EXPLODE with backers!!!!!

And they could have those extended thresholds, like "$500,000 and we go straight to ASIC"!

The price is variable, in this page here claim get the FPGA to ASIC reduce the price by up to 10 times.
    EXTERNAL LINK

I get it or not is another question. :-) We must take into account initial costs.
Anyway sure the team will be evaluating this solution.

    There is also this alternative:
    EXTERNAL LINK    EXTERNAL LINK
Though I do not know how complicated it can be to use.

    A greeting.

This is not worth looking at until the Apollo core is completed and bug free. e.g

FPU
MMU
SAGA
16 bit Audio
AGA ???

Whatever the Team decides, they should take into account that when they do a kickstarter, they will exactly know how much people want their product(s).
They could use the money to bring the Vampire to an even higher level. Maybe they can ask us for the kind of features that we want.
I know I' m dreaming here. But the birth of our beloved Amiga, was also dream for us and hard work from the makers then :)
