Hi i was swimming at the bay and found a floating rom 3.1.4.
Couple of questions, there's any advantage using it on coffin ?.
And if this is the case how you "change" the rom on the vampire, does the vanilla 3.1.4 will work ?.

You need a patcher from the Apollo team to use the 3.1.4 ROM image.

None that I am aware of, there even might be some slight disadventage that a lib or two arent in the ROM and must be on hard drive if required by any app. There is no need for new ROM unless you are going to use OS 3.1.4

There is a detailed guide at Vamps wiki
EXTERNAL LINK
You need A1200 file of the ROM

Hi,

There are a few advantages with the new 3.1.4 ROM. Besides many bug fixes and improvements, the bigest feature is native support for large Media (greater than 4GB drives). This means no patches or hacks are needed to access large HDDs and SSDs. All data will be available to your Amiga on boot (from early boot or Worbench), plus the new Workbench 3.1.4 is nice. It supports all of the new features of the ROM and gives an updated feel to Workbench 3.1. It's not a replacement for OS 3.9 but is nice for light weight installations on lower spec'ed Amigas and adds some of the features that OS 3.9 has to offer.

I would highly recommend the 3.1.4 ROM when using OS 3.9. I have the ROM as part of the Vampire Core (2.11) in conjunction with Coffin r54 and it works great.

In the wiki is mentioned rom for A600 too.. from the post above, it seems it works only with the A1200 version of kickstart..
since i bought the 600 version, i wonder if the A1200 is a raccomandetion or a must...

@Sebastian on testing OS 3.1.4 ROM and WB

I would be interested to see comparison to last Cloantos ROM
whos closest sibling by feats should be a Vamps ROM (45.064)
EXTERNAL LINK  and complementing "AF WB 3.1"
  EXTERNAL LINK
Some more OS3 tools mostly included in "AF WB 3.1"
  EXTERNAL LINK
WB Nostalgia current info on OS 3.1.4
  EXTERNAL LINK
Would be beneficial on decision making to e.g. leech WB from AF, OS 3.9 or buy 3.1.4 as legal starter.

The former. Both versions have been tested. I've recommended the A1200 ROM for one reason only: full AGA support once it's available on Vampire. Until then, Vampire will happily operate on A600 or A1200 ROMs without any relevant difference. I've also compiled ROMs with built-in intuition V45. No problem there, either.

Oh it will boot emuTOS and AROS ROM too :) KS 1.2 even :) But question is what actually is most modern and bugfixed KS-WB combo, and good legal starter too.
