Hey guys, I hope someone can help me, I am at a complete loss here.
I got given an SD slot extender, looks identical to the ones that I have seen others using on the group, says AoSheng on the actual part that goes into the slot.

I tried it this morning and the card was not found, which I thought ok, others on here have had issues and not always got them to work. I put my SD back in and it was not found.

I tried another card formatted to fat32 instead of the pfs3 I was using and the result was the same, not found.

I have tried a fresh install of coffin, result is the same. Same with a fresh install of 3.14 and the saga drivers too. It cannot find any card. Sometimes I will get a read error but most of the time it says no drive in SD0 or no device.

Any ideas? I do not understand how a simple SD passthrough could do this :(

I should add it is a 500 V2+, about 2 months old.

So it does look like the pins or something are damaged from the extender. Somebody on the Facebook group mentioned he had also killed a slot before trying an extender :(

Anyone know where I can get a replacement part?

I would examine the pins on the vampire to make sure they are ok. Incorrect SD insertion can bend the pins. Hopefully it’s just a card or software issue.

Take a close picture on slot with mobile and zoom, check if you bend with extender...

When you insert an SDcard gently push it in.

To remove an SDCard, again gently push it in first again - it will then bounce out.
Please not just force pull the SDcard out.

the micro SD cards are beveled where the pins are sited, to be sur not to bend the contacts when the card is inserted.
EXTERNAL LINK  most of the SD exender are not beveled, resulting into bending the contacts when you insert them. I had the problem myself and had to let the SD connector exchanged on my v500.
Look at your sd extender connector. If there is no bevel, then I bet that your connector is destroyed. But the good new is that it's not a big problem to exchange this connector.
On a side note, those SD extender are not recomended, because very often they degrade the quality of the signal and generate errors.

Yeah it is definitely a dead socket :( Pedro on the FB group he had killed a few too due to the extenders, so I knew right away it must be the pins then. I did not hear any noise on insertion so just thought it was ok. I did not know about the bevel though, thanks for that info. I will know what to look out for now.

Pedro did tell me to get in contact with Majsta but I appreciate he is probably busy so I am just going to get a guy here in the Netherlands to do it for me and buy the part. I guess it will only take him5 minutes with the hot air gun.

I am going to be getting an extender in the Vampire kit from the A1200.net guys too, so I might even sand that tip down on it myself and create a bevel.
