I was wondering if the V4 is available to pre order anywhere so we can sign up and pay ready to receive when they leave the production line? I am eager to get it paid for while I have the money to spare!

Amigastore.eu has been taking pre-orders for the V4 and has been for some time.

Which to me seems very untrustworthy as they don't have any way of getting any V4s quicker than they will be available for direct purchase. If you preorder, your money will be tied to whatever number of cards they will get delivered. It's basically queuing for getting your place in the main queue...

No.  It has nothing to do with trustworthiness at all.  If you cast your mind back to the original announcement, the V4 will be sold exclusively through authorised distributors.  Amigastore.eu is an authorised distributor according to chapter 6 of the announcement.  See the link below.  It may not guarantee you an quicker delivery (whatever that means) by pre-ordering but there is nothing wrong with people registering their interest especially if they are not asking you to pay the cost of the board upfront.

Erm, Ronnie... I'm not trying to be a pain here, but did you read that disclaimer?

I'm not sure which reseller it was but I heard of people who paid a reseller for a V2 and then waited to finally cancel their order. Perhaps I was under the wrong impression that some resellers actually do collect money for a product they haven't got...

as far as i know there is no seller that collected any money for vampire v4, they only collected the shipping price which is in the range of 15-20 euros.

I had pre ordered fpga consoles where i paid 100% of the amount upfront, and it took almost 2 years to arrive

preordering will also give a hint to the supplier of howmany boards he should produce

Not part of the team. Own opinion and understanding.

a) In past, Vamp production was more by "Majstas and Kippers hands" and production cycles were less automated, demanding and rarer. Thus Vamps were not always ready for shop preorders as expected, but no one suffered that much - was either refunded or lived to see a Vampire.

b) Now the V2 production is more standardized and deal with shop is made with better dates known and via shop purchases as opposed to hunting Vamps in the past. Majsta has his own designs and might continue to sell his own improved V2 600 and V2 1200, but overall V2/V4 production should be more standardized and via dealers.

c) Currently, no presale was announced. While it might be good source of funding, interest scan and keeping dealers happy, it might backfire. I am more for "on sale when fully ready"
