...and that the open-source P96 driver has no vector optimization.

@samuel crow if you have the knowledge to help on this, wouldn't you consider this to have higher priority than vector optimization for audio mixing ?
either way, thanks for your work

There is a guy that is working on the AROS graphics driver. We'll see after that.

good to hear :)

the problem is that current Hollywood heavily depends on pure processing power and has no apollo support at all. For example 3D depends on Warp3D and Wapr3D is a pure software solution depending solely on the processor. So I assume that Hollywood could be speed up with compiling for apollo as target(if that will be ever supported)

EXTERNAL LINK makes hardware acceleration such as the GL Galore plugin possible. Also see EXTERNAL LINK for more information.

GL Galore still uses Stormmesa/Warp3D (or Wazp3D) and these purely depend on processing power. Of course you could make specific versions for Vampire/Apollo and speed it up but that is not reality now.

Once The Vampire 1200 is out you can try with Mediator+voodoo 3/4/5 card, those do have warp3D support.

I think EXTERNAL LINK might be a little better but if it is based on Wazp3D, you may have a point. Perhaps a new Gallium Softpipe derivative that uses less memory would allow ArosMesa to be implemented.

storm mesa 2010 is not based on wazp, even if its autor was involved. where do you have it from? it is recompilation of strom mesa with ported to gcc with some improvements, which might still have need a review. the asm inlines have been left out without noticeable slowdown, but could be reimplemented if the syntax was adopted.
as far as i have beedn able to tell from the sources, storm mesa coild be realtively cheaply adopted to slightly later mesa version, but it wouldnt probably gain that much. the problem is warp3d system it relies upon. and the later implementations like mesa7 present in aros is way too heavy for softpipe on 68k. you can watch it as a slide show on emulation.
