| ok good start. placing the vampire back into the CPU socket, I have a rev5 A500 machine too, and had to bend some of the capacitors out of the way to seat it properly. are any of these caps stopping the board from sitting nicely? I had to properly press the vamp down to get a good connection.I had issues with my machine working for a bit, then after a little while, non-booting, black screen, etc etc. and ended up moving the board with a load of wires from the cpu socket to the bottom of the vamp, and ironicly, my machine has never been more stable. we know the machine is "known good", and the vamp is "known-good" so the problem has to be putting the two things together? with the vamp not working in either your A500 or A1000, i'd put the vamp into "not-sure" - as this to my mind, effectively rules out any PSU problems given that both have different PSU.
