Ahaha! I just came here to read if there was any new Vampire 1200 news. I'm glad you guys saw my cartoon tribute. If anyone wants a printable copy of this for a tshirt or whatever you like, I posted it to my website in an open directory. Many more details seen in the biggie rez version:

EXTERNAL LINK
Also if you just go here: EXTERNAL LINK  You will see one other image I did earlier in the week.

I'm so excited to see the progress on this. I hope it's released soon. I've been waiting more than 20 years for something that blows the doors off of my old Blizzard 1260 that I stupidly sold ages ago. I've not got a 1200 with ACA 1233n in front of me waiting.. waiting..

V1200 and V-CD32 are very very near.

V4000 is in the future.

Hi, can You summarize the differencies between the Vampires for A500/600 (both versions) and the incoming for the A1200 please ? Thanks :)

Awesome!!
Igor,do you think the v1200 could be pushed safely a bit harder on cpu speed (like x14/x15) than v500/600 (x11/x12)?

Ooh, 104 MIPS; now you got NovaCoder's attention ;-)

@Igor in older A1200 prototype / testboard you use Cyclone III, will the final version use the same "Cyclone V E" as the A500 V4? (For some reason there's a zillion different variations of each FPGA..)

The "V666" (V3?) model Majsta mentions at his web page (might not be his end V1200 model) has:
!!- Adopted V2 core likely to Cyclone 5
!!- But more FPGA space for future expansions, like V2 on steroids
!!- A1200 connector obviously and some nice LED Vamp letter!
!!- Improved DVI with no troubles like V2 had (need for repeater)
and some PCB and engeenering ehancements in power and stability

For this I am not fully sure:

???- 512MB RAM like V4 if I understood well, but SDRAM like V2 and not DDR3 like 512MB. Kind of "budget power edit", more expensive then A500 V2 less then future V4 for A1200, I imagine.
??- improved flash (dual?) similar to V4 if I get it well
??- Improved SD Card transfers and EIDE
  - But no USB and LAN like V2 if I get that well
!! Gunnar just mentioned  V-CD32 is also "very near" :)

So more like V2+ (like his improved V600 design) but for A1200/CD32?.
Seems V4 que will be a bit longer, so no hustle in having A1200 model sooner >:) Will it be able to use V4 core, might not be and I am not sure too.

If you look at the images of the v1200 on some previously posts over here,  the v1200 clearly will have a Cyclone 3 (but not necessarily the same C3 mounted on v500/v600)

What I can see clearly is early revisions of V1200 with Cyclone III, I have not yet seen final version AFAIK ;-)

I seriously doubt that the images posted by Simo Koivukoski at the end of january represent "early revisions" of the v1200 board.
It's more probable they represent the final form of the board..
Obviously only Igor can say for sure what the v1200 specifics are

Let me try to explain.
First V1200 was designed on as we call it V666 who contained Cyclone V and 2 SDRAM chips. Later on I decided to build V1200 based on Cyclone III as starting point. What will be used on final card is still not determined. I have tried to boot card with Cyclone V alone and because I don't understand chip well after about 2 months of work I didn't make it happen. After so much frustration Cyclone III was only solution to at least get some info using device I understand better. Idea was to try to do it alone to not waste team's time who was working hard on standalone board. Eventually I failed also with C3 so team jumped in and within 3 days of crazy debugging we made it happen. We had many problems so far in various areas, from hardware bugs to very complex controllers. Now everything needs to be optimized to get even better results first regarding motherboard access who is very slow now. But, despite everything I am quite surprised how card works and complete system is very very stable.
