Question! Did you install picasso96 before you install saga? If you answered yes and if you answered you got picasso96 installation from aminet the second question I want to ask. When you installed picasso96 did you select uaegx?

| i followed the link exactly, so Picasso first, SAGA next. I did tick uaegx aswell as Picasso IV. Cant find SGDiag. haven't checked the rest. Weird message about saga drivers being installed to RAM then asking to reboot... none of this makes sense or is in the tutorial. All drivers supplied were from website. didn't go to aminet. Even though the res and colour is crap I can pick I higher res mode and it switches to hdmi 720p. But only to test. if I try to save I get some message "Intuition is attempting to reset the workbench" The it goes back to its crap res. CheersUPDATE: since today I cant even get it to boot anymore. Constant gurus and rebooting. resetting card doesn't help. cant get into SS

| It looks like your card is broken, or something with your Amiga is not right. What version of core you're using now? Remove vampire, clean everything and check again

| I removed card. blew out any dust, cleaned with alcohol, put it back on and it worked for a bit. although AKReal OS is still frozen on boot. OS3.9 does boot but only in low res modes. Go an higher and itll crash. In winuae I got rid of screenmodes.pref in AKreal8. Vampire will no longer boot. Gurus, red flashing etc. no ss. same as before.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! STOP! Did you say you are using AmiKit Real??!!!!!!!!!!! Pphhhhhheewww! I thought there was something wrong! Dude! I have vampire myself and my 1st suite was AmiKit real and I faced the same exact problem you are complaining! IT IS AMIKIT REAL itself is the problem...NOT VAMPIRE...NOT DRIVER! My recommendation is buy the largest middle finger foam hand you can ever find and throw it in front of the face of Amikit real! <censor> Amikit real! Ok....... Step 1: Format your CF with PFS 3 Step 2: Partition it to correct (make sense) partition sizes Step 3: Install Workbench 3.1 Step 4: install OS 3.9 Step 5: Install boing 1 and boing 2 (DO NOT INSTALL UPDATE ROM) Step 6: Following the instructions (again) for installing the drivers...starting with Picasso96 and finished with SAGA Step 7: Enjoy!

| Ive given up on AKreal for the reasons u mentioned.. im using OS3.9 now. But.. im still having the same problems. it gives me a red screen and I have to press the card down and then it boots, sometimes it doesn't.. this doesn't sound like a software problem to me it seems like hardware.

| Ive now got the vampire hardware working (I think) OS3.9 is still crashing endlessly. not as bad as amikit but its nowhere near as stable as my A1200s 0s3.9. When I try to change the background picture is freezes and reboots. Little clock shows only the hands? not the clock Open files from Atemp freezes opening a saved settings file in Miamidx freezes the system? and so on...

That is because you are using an Amiga 600. You either need an elephant sitting there to make sure your vampire does not pop out..or have like six drills...drill deeeeeeeep in there..to make sure it stays put. But I am glad everything is normal now. :) V600 popping out is a normal thing for a600 users.

| if you think the HW is bad, return it to me (or Majsta if you got from him) and we will check it. you can also try flashing an earlier silver core, see if problems are the same

| Brian. I bolt the card down to the motherboard as far as it will go. I cannot tighten the screws anymore. Someone in the Amiga community has said the socket has to be touching the motherboard. I can still just about see the 68ks pins. Cant get it any lower. If it was meant to go down fully then maybe it should have been designed to fit properly? After putting about 10 billion pounds of pressure on it tightening it up it worked. For about 20 mins. Then I get a green flashing screen? I wiggle it (very little as the card is so hard pushed on there it cant move much) and the thing boots again?! I think it is hardware but who knows. Maybe its the A600, maybe its the core.. no one seems to know. I do know one thing... its Pi$$ing me off. I was one of the original buyers from Majsta (and probarbly the only one who hasnt got it up and running yet). Im talking to him by email... but hes talking about replacing it. I did that once already.

| If Majsta already replaced your board once, i would think your A600 is at fault. Green screen means error with chip memory. Red Screen means there is a kickstart ROM error.Any chance you can test the Vampire in another A600 ?

| K, here are my thoughts, you hav a cold solder joint on yourCPU, what this means is, as the mobo heats up the chip expands and causes breaks in the circuit, if you can, try the following... use rosin flux and wet all the cpu pins... - use a dry soldering iron with no solder on it and just touch the pins and pad, it will reflow - remove all rosin flux with q-tip and isopropy alcohol - clean all the pins inside the vampire soctket retry and let the a600 idle (load superfrog and just let it run) see how it performs

pressing like mad is not good. You break the soldering of your PCB or of the Vampire this way. Then you get exactly those errors you describe.

According to this page: EXTERNAL LINK Green screen is chip ram problem. So: did you test your chip memory against memory errors? Especially when do you have chip memory expansion...

| Tony Day, I understand 100% how you feel. How it is so frustrating? How you feel like the problem is unsolvable and how you fear you may have done more damage now. All I can advice is to take a little break, a little breather, relax and just follow the help the community is giving you. Worst case, if after all of this..it remains failed...my best recommendation..others may disagree...is send your A600 and v600 to kipper2k and have them install it/fix it for you. He always does his job 100% professional with perfection, never ones a single customer complained about him or his service. He is even better than Amigakit.com services :) It may mean not having an Amiga or v600 for a while but from my experience the wait is always worth it. I hope my senseless babble helped a bit :)

| Thanks everyone for the help. I have been trying to get this to work since its release in March this year. Been talking to fellow EAB members and on Amiga facebook group aswell as here. Ive tinkered with alot of equipment over the years and spent many an hour doing so but ive never encountered something as difficult (or is that frustrating) as this card (who knows... could be the A600? but it runs fine normally without the card in it). But... im taking in the above comments.. this could well be a problem that i dont have the skills to fix. Ive emailed kipper and asked if he can take a look at it. Hopefully i get a response soon. I dont know what to do after that. All I know is im going to walk away from it for the moment.. spending too much time on in and its driving me nuts. Thanks again to everyone for the advice. Sorry for any typos... just finished work and im knackered.

I understand 100% completely what you are going through and it is a super wise decision to hand it to kipper2k. Here is what I can do...in IRC channel when I find kippa I direct this post to him and ask him if possible he can reply to you ASAP. :) That is all I can do for help. Relax...go outside...eat burgers...take fresh air and for now forget about Amiga and Vampire. Because if you don't...your mind will make things worse and you might quit forever :( which we don't want that happening. When your mind is 100% clear..come back to the situation at hand. I hope you have this situation fixed so you can enjoy Vampire. My experience with Vampire 500 is that it is smooth sailing...no issues like you face...since it goes to the 68k socket and not a hack like A600. It is full plug and play :)
