Fusion and Shapeshifter Problems

Vampire 600 V2, Gold 2.8/ 2.9, Coffin r49.

Fusion won't run unless I assign more than 100 meg memory. Otherwise it freezes at splash screen.

Shapeshifter won't run at all - freezes at splash screen ("welcome to Macintosh").

It's strange, as on YouTube I have seen people with my setup launching Fusion with 25 or something megs of memory assigned.

Any ideas what the issue could be?

For Shapi, try to delete "Shapeshifter PRAM" and restart it.

I don't know for Fusion, I don't use it.

It's happening on both 2.8 and 2.9 in my case.

After deleting the file and running SS, the system crashes and reboots at "Welcome to Macintosh".

Yeah I somehow corrupted my install before similarly and tried the PRAM trick, hate to say my solution was just to delete both Mac emulator directories and copying it over again from the ApolloOS/Coffin image.

Wish I had a more elegant solution.

I found myself in the same situation with crashing Fusion and SS since the update to GOLD 2.7. Seems like Mac emulation is one of the situations, where some A600 Vampires show stability issues.
Disable Superscalar mode (vcontrol ss 0) and try again running Fusion. This lowers integer performance by ~15% acc. to Sysinfo.
Or flash your vamp 600 with x10 core and see if that helps.
