Vampire Gets "Phantom" Power From HDMI When Off

After I connected my Vampire DIGITAL-VIDEO to my Scart HD Video converter I realized that it seems that the A500 is getting some "Phantom" Power from the DIGITAL-VIDEO Port. With the A500 Power supply turned off I can see Power LED being lit dimly and also pressing the Caps Lock turns the LED on/Off.

Is there any danger by having the DIGITAL-VIDEO plugged in while the Amiga is off? According to the DIGITAL-VIDEO standard the power is about 50mAmp @5Volts but I don't know if all vendors follow the standard.

Thanks

Mike

I use the cheapo SCART upscaler and noticed the same thing. Also I'm not sure if I'm imagining it now but I think I may have accidentally powered the SCART upscaler from the Vampire DIGITAL-VIDEO port once when I forgot to attach the power cable.

For this reason I now run the Vampire through a powered DIGITAL-VIDEO repeater housed inside the A2000, and also power the upscaler from the A2000 PSU via a barrel connection on the back, just to make sure everything is balanced and the vamp DIGITAL-VIDEO port is somewhat protected.

Plug DIGITAL-VIDEO amplifier between the Vampire and Video converter. It prevents the power feedback. EXTERNAL LINK
