| This tablet-like device that takes a RPi is being kickstarted, and a standalone Vampire might fit in there (if coerced). I assume you'd need to develop a custom OS to make the best use of it. EXTERNAL LINK

That looks interesting for folks on the go, but I can't imagine that there will be many standalone users who will need or want to take their Vampires on the road. I'd prefer a typical desktop monitor, keyboard and a wireless mouse. A Vampire-in-a-tablet is novel and cute, but not very practical. I'd like to see a mini Amiga 1000 case to stuff my Vampire into, or possibly an external Amiga A1010 disk drive case re-purposed as a Vampire case. I've also never understood why some Pi owners want to shoe-horn their hardware into 3 inch thick, 3D printed cases that look amateurish at best when they can buy an off-the-shelf tablet for $50 that will run rings around a Pi and already have touch-screens built in.

| Currently seems standalone options are (mostly due to strange port orientation) a) SURELY Teams red/blue box case (Vampire team) 00:57 at Amiga32 report video EXTERNAL LINK b) LIKELY A1200.net team was given a standalone at end of 2017 but they have said yet none EXTERNAL LINK c) CHECKMATE Case by Stephen Jones are likely to be designed to be able to fit it. EXTERNAL LINK Rest is likely to unsuceed gamble.

| Looks great, but it's 21 century, do We still need floppy drive on the new Amigas? For classic ones it's ok, but I don't see any reason to equip Standalone Vampire with Floppy drive.

| Just give me a standard formfactor, like mATX, MiniITX, etc. board and I am happy. Don't forget, Amiga-OS, TOS/MiNT and so on are not made for touch mode. (Just take an x86 tablet and install Windows XP and you will see what I mean.)

If board would be miniITX it would fit many existing Mini-PC cases (and Lorianos X500) out of box, but seems our board is so little miniITX is kind of big for it. Its "just" an FPGA chip, RAM, connectors etc. One day, if we reach board/ASIC maturity, its likely standard form factors will be used (enabling all kind of desktop/mobile solutions). But, since V4 size is "given" and its unlikely it will be "reformed" we have to live with few designes that are announce to be Vamp adopted, namely Checkmate and A1200.net With A1200.net - looks great and as A1200 past owner, really love it, but seems for standalone I/we will be in need of A1200 keyboard too? Or since standalone needs an USB keyboard some kind of internal Amiga keyboard to USB connector is needed to? But these will come to life once standalone is released.

| There are some pretty small MiniITX cases. I have seen brackets that "convert" Raspberry Pis to a MiniITX form factor. Perhaps something like that is possible here?

| I'm in love with those A7500 cases. Wish somebody could make them (or something along these lines). Perhaps Philippe, once he's done with keyboards.

That would be a great idea and high on my wishlist for future vamps. I'm a bit worried about the ports. You'd have to make breakouts to an ATX backplate for it to fit properly. Also power would have to be hacked in some way.

| The combined design for V4 standalone and A500/A1000/A2000 accelerator came as a surprise to me. The choice to make an accelerator will have put constraints on the form factor. Going forward other form factors will be needed if V4 accelerators are created for A600/A1200/A3000/A4000 these may or may not be dual accelerator/standalone designs if they happen. Without the CPU connector, level shifters and other legacy bits the board could probably be shrunk down to a Raspberry Pi form factor.

| You'll get it with the CPU connector and no serial ports, other connectors etc if it's designed to be used as an accelerator, or with serial ports and connectors etc and no CPU connector if it's designed to be used as standalone.

A NEW 1200 case designed just for the Vampire Standalone would be amazing. And, i could imagine - somewhat pricey.

| I wouldn't count on Phil (A1200.net). The A1200 cases campaign fundraising ended over 2 years ago, and the the delivery sort-of ended 1.5 years later. I write 'sort-of', as Phil still wants to provide better case badges and floppy buttons for remaining FDD models. Keycaps were supposed to be delivered long time ago - they are overdue, and I expect it will take several more months till I get mine sets. Now Phil wants to make A500 cases, which will probably take another 1.5 years. And he still has plans for 3 more undisclosed products. At this pace it will take him about 7 years till he has free slot for the Vampire case :) IMHO the Checkmate A1500 case project has the best chance to succeed and be about time for Vampire Standalone.

If you're implying that there will be no new A1200 cases, according to amigastore.eu they will be restocking new A1200 cases 5th of March.
