It has taken a lot longer than originally predicted to do the keycaps. The first set of designs, molds and therefore test samples were no good so they had to start over. It's not really surprising that things take longer than hoped when it's individuals with relatively small budgets dealing with international production and distribution. Hopefully the distribution will be a lot smoother than with the kickstarter cases as it must have been very frustrating for those waiting for their cases. They have been pretty good with providing kickstarter updates with one most calandar months but not long left for a full update in January though.

I don't know how much work has been done behind the scenes already if any for the A500 case kickstarter. Stephen Jones has been very public with his design process for the Checkmate 1500 Plus taking comments and posting facebook updates. He should have a prototype soon but will still need to run a kickstarter to get the funding for the facia molding and production and doesn't have the advantage of Amiga branding AFAIK. I hope all the projects are a success and timely but as with any kickstarter there are no guarantees.

I’d like a new case and new key caps for my A500 too.
As for the stand alone, I guess the best would be if there were multiple choices for a case.
Some would want one that looks like an A500, some would want an A1200 look. Others might want something that resembles A1000, A2000, A3000, A4000 (T?) and some would like a tiny case that doesn’t take up much space. Diversity would be great, but should the team work on different designs? Or maybe outsource to others, to make different cases? You guys tell me

If you're implying that there will be no new A1200 cases, according to amigastore.eu they will be restocking new A1200 cases 5th of March.

No, I'm talking about potential Vampire Standalone specific case. A1200 case is probably not the best one - A1200 motherboard is a completely different form factor, and it's ports are mostly different.

A stand alone that is designed to fit into the A1200 case tho... ^^

Only always talking about Amiga version... Standalone version will also be able to run as an Atari ST series compatible machine and those guys would not accept it in an Amiga 1200 case. Two cases will be too expensive. So something neutral which could be labeled is better. Go for standard formfactor. Maybe the Amiga chassis could be reworked in a way that such a standard formfactor could fit, with keyra interface to use original like keyboard.

I really liked the small metal enclosures on display at Amiga 32.

Wireless USB keyboard and mouse, plug in 5V supply, network and DIGITAL-VIDEO cables and you're good to go.

No old peripherals here - looking forward instead of back!

For me half of the appeal of the Standalone would be a possible new 1200 case red-designed for the Stanalone, maybe for example the PCMCIA slot removed and a new opening for a slimline DVD drive / USB slots etc.

Add some sort of internal PSU and thats just Amiga Porn.....
