Best adaptor is ... IDE 99 as usual (4 buffered devices).
  EXTERNAL LINK
Note: Its perfect for A600 Vamp model. Wait for V500 experiences.

At one point I had 2 hard drives and 2 cd-roms connected and being used in my Amiga, for no reason more than that I could, and that it was cool ^^ both hard drives were 40 GB drives, so the likelyhood that I would fill them up was... low? :) however, it did allow for some really specific file catalogization. It was pretty useful for when it came to work partitions, really

I was using the EIDE 99 adapter btw. Pretty good buffer, if you ask me

Hi guys,

Can anyone confirm their experience with eide99 for V500? Still indeed the best setup for multiple devices? (CF and DVD in my case, for Checkmate in a few months)

I'm using the 4xEIDE99 adapter, and it works great, but a few things to keep in mind: If you're going to connect a compact flash card, bear in mind that it works best if it is on its own channel, by itself.  CF cards don't like to play in the master/slave configuration for some reason.  I used the primary port (44 pin for 2.5") for the compact flash card, then hooked the optical drive up to the secondary port (40 pin for 3.5"), and everything is great.

I am using 4xEIDE99 and it is SWEET. I have a working DVD player as a bridge to transfer data between PC and my Amiga and on my V500 and soon I will receive a 500 GB mechanical hard drive and have it as one single partition of 500 GB to store movies, games, mp3, etc.

Any update John of your 500GB HDD and DVD player working?
Any other user on a V500 using CF + DVD confirming the 4xEIDE99 is the best setup?
Also, what driver do you use to access the CD part? Allegro?

Would it be possible to:

a) Use IDE99 buffered on single bigger IDE port of v4sa
    Install IDefix

b) Connect SATA SSD via SATA2IDE to IDE99 ports

c) Connect IDE DVD RW to other IDE99 port

Would there be any speed penalty? Is it better to use smaller IDE port for DVD with some convertor and directly connect SSD SATA2IDE to Vampire? Or is this idea optimal solution?

If you are going to hook up that way why use the IDE99 at all? Just go directly to each of the IDE interfaces on the V4SA ...

Subject quickly drifted to the exciting upcoming v4sa...
But is anyone able to help me with confirmation on ideal multi-IDE setup for Vampire V2+ 500 before I buy any gear?
Still the 4xEIDE99 the best solution?
And what CD driver/file system do you use to access the CD part? Allegro?

Its about the same thing, v2 has one IDE, SA 2 portts.

IDE99 is the best solution in terms of getting expansion
up to 4 EIDE devices.

Allegro alone seems most mature CDFS for AmigaOS
https://www.elbox.com/products/allegro_cdfs.html#PRICING

Idefix expands it with CD32 abilities and other
EXTERNAL LINK
It supports Allegro.

My question is essentialy: can faster Vampire speeds of EIDE
be controlled and reached via EIDE99 or it works only via direct connection?
