But does it not still require using Gayle for the ATA IDE interface?, I'd think there still would be some limitations seeing how it's going through old silicon. Not saying it's not faster than stock, but not as fast as it being done on a modern FPGA.

V500 FastIDE is about twice fast as A600 FastIDE.

Sure, there are limits, it can’t do 500 MB/s, but probably higher than stock. CPU matters, as far as I’ve understood. Not sure if it’s the Gayle chip on the A600, don’t know much about that motherboard

Oh sure, but he was talking about the Gayle chip and its limits

About ~ 3.5MB/s - 5.5MB/s depending on the Gayle. Each Gayle is unique. Used CF card also affects on the same way.

Wow... that’s some interesting stuff right there. Makes me wonder why they designed it this way. Lol I gotta test mine out now just because!

Not that it was really designed for Gayle to have different speeds, there are shifts that happen when chips are fabricated that can affect speed and or power consumption which can vary the overall performance per chip. The Gayle chips likely operated within specs specified for their original use case in a stock a600/a1200.

@Roy you’re right, I remember now. I had forgot about that

Producing some hundred mainboards and sourcing all parts takes more time then making a bowl of popcorn.
Its normal that this takes some time.

Ok thats Gunnar for quick reply. Just wanted to know because original post said 'very soon' and i know that can be interpreted in many ways. Any rough time frame?

If you order some hundred PCBs and all the parts to solder them
then the normal time to arrive at your place can be 3-4 weeks.

So if Igor says the production is restarted now and a new batch will be produced now, then its absolute normal that from him ordering the parts to him having the soldered cards 2 month can pass.

I expressed interest very early on and was on the list for the V600 V2.  I did receive an email from Kipper many months ago confirming my order.  I replied and waited for payment instructions but never received them.  I sent more emails and eventually connected with Kipper on IRC who said he would send me payment instructions.  I still never received an email.

I hope I am still on the list for the V600 V2.  How can I check, and will I have an opportunity to purchase from this batch?

@Mikester RX7

I just want to add; Kipper stopped producing the Vampire card, and since then the rest of the team has adjusted their logisitics to factory production.
Basically it moved from handmade cards to factory, but it took some time to do this move as you can imagine. As a result a bunch of people that initially were in contact with Kipper has fallen between the cracks. I just want to reitiate that Im not knocking Kipper, since the massive amount of work he did while he was part of the team.
Manual labour at this level and quantity was just too much for one man to deal with, and he eventually threw in the towel.

So you should join IRC as ShK said, and message Tuko. Hes superfriendly, helpful AND pulls off a mean karaoke! :)

Thanks guys.  I did hear about what happened with Kipper, and do not fault him.  It seems he was overwhelmed.

I did hop on IRC and ping Tuko.  Fingers crossed.

As far as I understand, wasn’t kipper the one who came up with the plastic spacers on the A600 version? That, and taking such a big part in the production (or at least what it seems to me that he did), and in a project that he didn’t even start to begin with? As far as I know at least, Majsta did them all by himself at first. Right?

I mean, it’s the vampire! Who wouldn’t wanna be part of it?! Man, if I could work on this, I would! In a heartbeat. But I think as far as I know, kipper deserves a really big thank you for the work he put down in this. I don’t think that anybody who can see this, would blame him for anything.

It IS unfortunate for those it affected, and still affects, but I’m sure the team has or will solve this. I have full faith in the team. Not sure if Tuko is gonna be the guy who picks up where kipper left off or what, but it seems to me that the team are already on top of the situation and have been for a while now

Plastic spacers made with 3D printers are replaced now with something new. Much better result, soon I ll show how spacers looks like. I will talk more about the card and improvements/fixes made when I get my hands on first one but I think that everyone will be happy with the results.
