From what we have seen shown so far isn't gold 3 ready for release at least as a beta? I have nothing but time and have offered my services to testing gold 3 but no luck so seriously can't we just play with what you have so far? Imagine the bug testing you would get from such wide spread testing!

Can you code blitter and copper ASM test cases for Alice?

I can certainly have a go. Always willing.

Just because you are willing doesn't mean that you are capable of writing software to test the functionality of the new core. If you are not proficient in 68k assembly, then the feedback you could provide is probably more noise than helpful.

Biggun must be able to run test cases in SIM, so only ASM does. ASM-One assembler is all what you need. You can do a few well commented blitter and copper ASM test cases for Alice (tricky ones), and PM them to Biggun on IRC.

I just think you should be open beta testing gold 3 now sick of hearing when it's done, when we think it's ready - it looks far enuff along that it's ready for a larger audience in my opinion.

While you wait, why dont you start with a code project suited to 2.5?

The Apollo Team has never released a core before they feel ready, so constantly harping on it wont help.

If you want to become a betatester I got a feeling they are more inclined to consider you if you offer real demostration of ability beyond words.

That takes some chutzpah to say while you are in someone else's sandbox.

Given Mr. Niding's track record in porting OpenBOR to the Amiga I think he's spot on with his comments. Put up or shut up.

I cant take any credit for that port. If you read my post closely you will see I merely copy pasted it from English Amiga Board since the author tends to limit his posting to that forum.

So Im just your average end user.

I understand the eagerness of trying new cores, we all want to try it. But the apollo team got their procedure, and only betatesters are included. If anyone are able to convince them that they got the needed skill to be a tester, then fine.
Just saying you have past expirience doesnt amount to anything.

Again, I sympatise with his desire to test the core :-)

Ah, my mistake.  I assumed that you and Modern Vintage Gamer were the same person.  And I agree with you.  I'm tired of hearing people ask to test the newer cores who bring nothing to the table.

I am sorry I shouldn't have been so sharp and nasty - things are getting on top of me in life in general and I exploded in the wrong place at the wrong people. Please forgive me guys.

Yes Steve my remarks were diredted at Adam, who I see has a reasonable explanation and apology. All is good.

People are passionate on this project.
