SAGA Question Regarding AGA

Maybe it has been asked before; as a really happy owner of a Vampire II on the A600, I am wondering if SAGA roadmap is aiming to have AGA custom chipset compatibility or just RTG (that it is already more than I dreamed for a 600).

It was planned before. Especially for standalone board. I think all board will be aimed on AGA/ECS/OCS.

Yes you are course right, that SAGA will 100% include AGA.

Original AMIGA video out to the Digital LCD connector will soon be available in two flavors.

I hope it will be possible to quickly switch between Vampire SAGA and original Amiga chipset - even though SAGA is going to be much superior, I would like to have the possibility to check something on the original chips - for example to see if encountered problem is a SAGA bug or a WHDLoad slave bug :)

I can only dream about AGA via DIGITAL-VIDEO, no switching, no cabble changing :) Just AGA + RTG mode as new AGA screen mode and all on DIGITAL-VIDEO output...

Maybe it is possible to use old analogue ouzput of Denise in parallel with DIGITAL-VIDEO of Vampire as long as you are using original OCS/ECS/AGA modes?

After all this, still unclear.
Will I need two monitors, or one monitor with multiple inputs to handle both workbench and game outputs?

On my Indivision, all display modes go through one output, just different resolutions. Now,as far as I understand, Vampire bypasses the video out with it's own hdmi, correct?

Since the AGA will be done in FPGA, as you can guess, whatever is done in the FPGA will be output through DIGITAL-VIDEO. If you want to *switch* to genuine chipset, then it will obviously output the graphics from the Amiga's own Video output. For example Video/RGB to Scart.
If you have a small-ish HDTV with both DIGITAL-VIDEO and Scart you could use that as one screen (Usually TVs that support Chroma 4:4:4 meaning it will not compress the image rendering e.g. text jittery.).

Disclaimer: the above is how *I* understand this ;-)

This is very simple.

You have on your AMIGA 2 physical video outs.

Our SAGA chipset does support both CHUNKY and PLANAR modes.
You can with GOLD3 enable/promote
e.g. Workbench PAL PLANAR modes to be also put out on the DIGITAL-VIDEO port.
This means you can view these modes on a LCD.
We areright now testing the PLANAR modes and today this promotion works with GOLD3 for system friendly screens.
This is Testing and Work in Progress, in the future also system unfriendly applications like demos will be supported over DIGITAL-VIDEO.

There is also a new HARDWARE solution for the Vampire.
This new Hardware solution creates a 100% copy of the original AMIGA signal and allows the be put out over DIGITAL-VIDEO.
This solution allows 100% visiual represantation of the orignal AMIGA signal.

Both options, the view of SAGA PLANAR modes and the view of DoubleScan card, both support putting the display out of CRT like Scan lines. This options allows to viewing your old Games like Sword of Sodan in a similar fashion as they were displayed on your trusty 1084 Mmonitor

In addition to this you still have the original AMIGA video out.
This means you can still plug your real CRT and compare.

If you buy a Vampire today,
then PLEASE only buy it for the features working today.

We are of course working on improving and enhancing all.
So we have many features we work on.
Like also showing PLANAR mdoes on DIGITAL-VIDEO.
But it could be some time when they are ready to release to public.

So yes sometime more upgrades are coming.
But do only buy the VAMPIRE for whatever its provides with the latest release at that time.

Thank you for sharing the roadmap, really amazing!

I already think the Vampire and Apollo-Core is the ultimate upgrade for any Amiga, but bringing RTG and post-68060 performance to the Amiga 600 was something that I never dreamed with.

Amiga rules and you rules guys!

Non, no... Vampire rulez, in both platforms, Amiga and ST, because one day it might also make from any ST to convert it into a faster/better than Falcon machine...

By the way, for the current Vampire scenario of ECS + RTG, there is a really cool hardware solution if you have the Indivision ECS called "Ratte's Monitor Autoswitch".

It is an internal hardware piece were you can connect internally the Indivision ECS and Vampire DIGITAL-VIDEO output to a single VGA output. The Amiga will switch *automatically* between ECS and RTG when needed. Really cool.

There is a order list in Amibay: EXTERNAL LINK

I think there something called parasite which pump the rgb output through the hdmi output on vampire but with gold 3 maybe not needed

Rattes autoswitch is currently easir to get.

None will be nedeeded ONCE we see "SAGA over DIGITAL-VIDEO" on core feat. list, be it core3 or beyond
