I just want to ask if this 10CX105YU484E5G -114eur ->mouser.ie
is usable for apollo-team ,it would be nice new upgrade
if this fpga is usable it is cyclone 10 gx 105 speed grade 5

Cyclone V is BGA-324 package. Cyclone 10 is UBGA-484 package.
The chips are not pin-compatible, so switching chips would require redesign of the vampire board.

I don't know much about the way VHDL works, but I assume they aren't compatible either.

Logic would suggest that any switch to a physically different FPGA than the one once already chosen requires *at least* a redesigned board.

As for the code compatibility, I'd assume that all FPGAs in the same "product family" (Cyclone) are similar enough so that its easy to migrate code..
  EXTERNAL LINK
That's also the beauty of designing a CPU for FPGA as its pretty much a certainty that future FPGAs will be able to run at higher speeds for the same cost, giving you the option to make the CPU faster simply by upgrading the underlying FPGA and not by actually improving the design..

No, even its Altera chip, its not the same family. Even if it would be Cyclone 3/5, it doesnt make it a Vampire yet. Board is a bit more specific, even being quite simple by look. While FPGA evolution is nice, it does not automatically translate to Vampire progress with exception of possibility of higher clock and LE space for more features (that have to be coded).

Its better to accept what V4 Vamps will be able to do and when they push core to the limit and are well etsablished, have one high end Vampire well feature wise packed and with latest v4 core with CPU frequency increased, and most featured core later (68090 in 2021?).
