Hi there I was just wondering about the current progress of gold 3 test builds -do they have SAGA and AGA both implemented now as one of the older builds I was testing for you cold only do AGA. Are all of the 2.9 features fully implemented in Gold 3 now including MAProm and Atari mode?

As non-tester, all I can say is: its all called SAGA, it "just" implements MapROM, Atari mode, FPU, P96 DIGITAL-VIDEO display etc. now and since GOLD3 will have improved AGA chipset in Blitter, Chip RAM, Sound and maybe something more with AGA backward compatibility as biggest Vamp improvememt. Also full Vamp control of chipset could help eliminate some of the incomatibilities that are current. Team will give more details when they feel so about current progress. Above stated is a clear and nice goal metioned so far in bits and pieces.

I was hoping for some info from actual testers rather than speculation.

You can see demos of most of it on You Tube beta testers channels. Team used to issue a almost-monthly report with progress, last being february. You can find them in news forum of the section
CLICK HERE
Other then that, team does not comment much on work-in-progress, but who knows, you might became lucky :-)

Really nice presentation, thanks. Seeing AGA  and 4MB Chip is really great for OCS generation machines. And brings standalone closer to life then ever before.

  4045 build is core3 test on Feb 26, 2018
Current public v2.9 are 5155, which means by now, its all quite ahead.

AGA and RTG is one and the same functional unit in the core.

I can see there is some confusion in this matter. The cores that are now available (be it final 2.x cores or internal beta 3.x cores) don't have both AGA and RTG at the same time. It's either one or the other. Although both builds use DIGITAL-VIDEO for output, there is no AGA+RTG core yet (that I know of).

Hope that clears things up slightly.

Przemyslaw Tkaczyk:
Gunnar said in his interview on AmitenTv that it is possible to have both AGA and RTG on same core. So, at least on v4's cyclone5,we can expect to have full amiga functionalities (aga, rtg, fpu)

Sure. I did not say it wasn't possible. Since the question was about current test builds I think I answered accordingly - as today it's either AGA (plus Paula2/Pamela) on GOLD3.x betas or RTG (plus original OCS/ECS and Paula) on GOLD2.x. I think it's clear that Team's ultimate goal is to have all of this in a single core, but, like you said, that might only be possible on V4's C5.

While flashing Vamps is easy once tested and learned the steps, it will give an interesting edge of v4s over v2s.

I realy hope AGA+Pamela and RTG are possible on VampV2! Maybe if it do not fit there will be two versions? One with AGA and RTG and one with FPU and RTG? But that is in the end only guesswork. We will see ;-)

So Apollo team you have been making huge leaps forward - how long do you think before Gold 3 hits?

In March 2018 video interview Gunnar stated it will take some time. He said that with further updates and fixes it would be like next six months for that journey. So no high expectations, just ocassional publishings.

So long wait between 2 and 2.5 official core was six months and about seven between 2.5 and 2.7. Ordinary fixes cycle between silver cores or between 2.7 and 2.9 was 2 to tree months. While its not official you could divide releases to "major updates" and "minor updates and fixes". Major release like gold core 3 might be amongst those that take time.

Only good news seems to be that AGA has been quite a while in testing. While major 2.9 core was released as core 5155, AGA test core seen in Amiten march 2018 video, is 4045

I will have my Amiga 1000 ready when it happens. I am making a new back plate for an hdmi connector, sd card and CF card slots and ethernet.
No more, or much less opening case I hope.
