Hi there. With the Update from Gold 2.5 to Gold 2.7 Roadshow/Internet Connection does not work anymore. What can that be? I am using Apollo OS and my own registered installed Roadshow.

Secondly, with Gold 2.5 and Saga 1.0 Mouse Cursore disappears. Only when I Flash to Gold 2.7 it appears again.

I believe SAGA driver 1.0 is only for 2.7 which will explain the issues you see when using it on 2.5

Ok. But why does it work with 2.5 and after just flashing to 2.7 it does not work with my plipbox?

Don't know about plipbox, but my a600 with pcmcia wifi card have no problems with 2.7

I have the same issues. I updated from Gold 2.5 to Gold 2.7! Everything worked fine except for plipbox connection. I then downgraded back to Gold 2.5 and plipbox ethernet connection worked again.

So, there are more people with the same issue Chris T.

My hardware:
Amiga 500 Vampire 500 V2+ and Plipbox and ApolloOS installed

Strange Thing. But maybe someone has a solution...

Today I realized, too, that my Plipbox Roadshow connection doesn't work any more since I've flashed Core 2.7 yesterday.
Might it be connected to something with the parallel port?

I was using Genesis stack with Plipbox under core 2.0 on my A500 with Vampire. It, too, stopped working with 2.7 core. So doesn't seem to be a problem specifically with the core and Roadshow so much as with the Plipbox or maybe the parallel port.

Last night I ordered the parts needed to do an SDnet to Ethernet connection. Been meaning to do that for a long time.

Once that is working I might choose to use my parallel port for some other device (I have several old Amiga toys in the house). So hope parallel port is just fine.

Is it documented somewhere which parts are required to make SDnet over Ethernet?

I'm running into the exact same issue with my Plipbox on Gold 2.7.

Adding the "NOBURST" option to the Plipbox config file seems to fix things, but does make the interface considerably slower. I'll probably look into the SDNet option, too.

Anthony, forgive me, but I have been looking for the plipbox config file. Where is it located? Thanks! Willing to take a slower plipbox connection while I wait for my sdnet adapter parts to arrive.

  Mike,

The basic version is included on the Plipbox floppy/ADF image. That said, you can also just create your own, if you like.

It needs to be placed at ENVARC:SANA2/plipbox.config. Just add "NOBURST" as the top line of the file.

I'm getting around 17,000 - 20,000 characters per second on iBrowse downloads this way. Not very fast, but it does work.

I'd like to know if this is something that must be fixed in Vampire Core, or in Plipbox device.

Thanks, Anthony. Alas, adding NOBURST did not get my plipbox going again. Guess I am holding out for sdnet.

Hoping the parallel port is working right in 2.7, because I have some other things I could use it for once I go with sdnet.

Sorry to hear it. You might also try completely unplugging and removing power from the Plipbox and then plugging it back in. The device seems to remember its configuration and doesn't read the new one without a full power cycle.

Ok... I am not the smartest person. I deserve kick in tha whatever... but one kind fellow at the #apollo-team channel on Freenode finally made Plipbox WORK.

Ok, you need to do this:

1. goto prefs/env-archive
2. makedir SANA2 there

3a) use a editor like ed (type ed s:user-startup), remove all the lines, write NOBURST and then choose SAVE AS, goto prefs/SANA2 and save it as plipbox.config there

or

3b) if you  use a much better editor like cygnused or other editor installed. Open it, write NOBURST and save the file in prefs/SANA2 as plipbox.config

4. Reboot and Plipbox is working with Gold 2.7 EXE X11 Version

Hope this helps. And I thank Claude for guiding me.

Bummer that it's not working for me. But soon I will try with sdnet.

I can confirm that SDNet works very well. I just put together an adapter with a Sparkfun breakout board and an Ethernet module I found on Amazon.

I'm actually posting this from my Amiga 500 via SDNet. :) iBrowse downloads look to be around 80,000 characters per second so far.

You'll want to avoid the x12 core for now, though. It seems to have some issues with SDNet. x11 works just fine, though!
