Hi

I have a brand new vampire 500 2+ 2.11 core with a clean coffin r54 installation.

I have som problems with old software.

Whdload versions of monkey island 1/2 and fate of atlantis have problem with mouse clicks. The games do not register mouse clicks 95% of the time. Other whdload lucasfilm games like Maniac Mansion is working perfect..

Monkey island is working perfectly when i try to boot it from the original adf`s from my gotek drive.

Both Versions of sysinfo from Coffin R54 also crash at startup (also crash from gotek) The main screen shows but i am not able to move the mouse pointer.

Have tried turtle mode and FastIDE 0/1/2. Different mouses and psu`s. Tried to reseat the vampire card. Something else i can try=

Do you have anything else in your AMIGA?
Some expansion cards?
Chipmem Expansion, Clock, anything?
Do you have a KICK ROM chip plugged in?

      Hi

The kick rom chip is not plugged in
I have a 512kb slow ram expansion. Did a slow ram to chip ram mod (1mb total chip) yesterday. No change.
The internal floppy is a gotek.
The motherboard is rev.8a (not the plus model). Also got a recoverable alert yesterday when starting one of the games (#15000002.41f900df)

Update: Tried to disable gotek, put in kick rom again, take out ram expansion, download whdload monkey island and sysinfo and put on microsd card, and run from the card (New and older Version), reseat the vampire again. All failed. Got the same recoverable alert one time ((#15000002.41f900df) Can run newer software like duke nukem and quake all night long.

Checking out the error code:
Guru Meditation Error Codes
Timer Device
15000002=Bad Supply

Timer Device=Bad supply...What does this mean?

Is your Vampire V500 in an A2000? If you are using the old stock PSU, wondering if there is an issue with the TICK signal, if you're using an ATX PSU conversion you may need to set the jumper to use the VSYNC instead.

If not an A2000, I have to think this may be some quirk with a custom chip, a CIA or Gary...

As you correctly decoded, the timer.device is throwing that one (http://cbm.cbueker.de/html/errcodes.html)
0002 - Power supply: no 50/60 Hz ticks
If you look at:
EXTERNAL LINK  You can see that CIA-A has some 50/60 Hz counters/timers.

Generally, the timer device is relying on CIA chips for timers. You might want to try to swap your CIA chips around, and see if you get the same issue. It might be a good idea to find some software that could test CIA chips for you.

Yes! it was a CIA chip problem. Swapped the chips and no more mouse problems and error Messages in monkey island. Sysinfo is also working.

Can you explain how did you "swaped the chips"?!? Did you remove them from sockets and replace each other?!? What is sense behind this?!? And: How it can works in this case? They were desinged in the way to be interchangeable? And: why Commodore wasn't swap them in the factory?

The CIA chips are exactly the same, they're just used for different things. The other CIA chip is used for Serial and floppy, so likely by moving the broken CIA chip to the other socket he' just moved what was broken to one of those systems instead.

Just happy to find the cause of the problem. Now i know the problem was a bad cia chip and that is a easy fix. I will order a working one to change the bad one.
