It's working like AGA version on 060 or even slower. Beta 10 from NovaCoder running at 80MHz was faster for sure. Look at YouTube.

Yes you are right, there are many different Quake versions - with different tweaks, fixes, tunings, and different performance levels.
Therefore its absolutely normal that one version runs faster than another.
 
Also Quake support different color depth and different texture filters - so for a real compare you need to set both system equal.

Maybe you like to help and compile this version so that we can compare?

Of course I'd love to help, but only thing I can compile is coffe on coffe machine at my work :)
I'm not blame Vampire it's slower on Quake 2 and I can realize it's different version of port. I'm just curious why.

Never been fan of Q2. I do own the game, but original Quake
is just it! Fully expanded Quake offers much of ... Quake atmosphere :-) Moving it to space was bad idea, but engine is good and demanding and new level of battle.
Wonder how FPU accelerated wazp3d and v4 would handle the same task.

As usual, ability to run the engine is more important,
as some strange games, like ... SiN, KingPin and even an UFO advanced port are based on same.
